Senior Solutions Designer
Design the systems that keep complex enterprise services connected, resilient and ready to scale. VStream Labs Inc. is seeking a hands-on Senior Solutions Designer for a Toronto-based contract. You will shape backend and integration architecture, guide developers, and work directly with business and technical stakeholders to turn requirements into practical solutions.
Compensation: CAD $80–$85 per hour. Work arrangement: Onsite in Toronto, five days per week.
What you’ll do
- Translate business requirements, service specifications, standards, policies and cost considerations into solution designs and technical documentation.
- Design backend services, REST APIs, messaging, middleware and Azure-based integrations.
- Assess capacity, performance, security and recoverability of existing systems, recommending improvements where needed.
- Develop technical specifications for installation, testing, performance and migration of integrated services.
- Gather requirements, build use cases and prototypes, and present solutions to business and technical stakeholders.
- Lead developers and facilitate technical discussions from design through delivery.
Required experience
- At least 10 years of backend design and development using REST web services, JPA, Hibernate, databases, SQL and PL/SQL.
- Strong enterprise integration design experience, including patterns, technologies, principles and best practices.
- In-depth Spring Framework and Spring Integration experience designing and building integration solutions.
- Hands-on experience with message-oriented middleware and enterprise service buses such as IBM App Connect Enterprise or MuleSoft.
- Experience with JMS, AMQP or REST in an Azure integration context, plus cloud-based integration solutions.
- Experience leading other developers as a team lead.
- Ability to work onsite in Toronto five days per week.
Nice to have
- Public-sector experience and familiarity with enterprise architecture standards and documentation.
- Oracle or SQL Server data models; UML, JEE, service bus or ETL solution design.
- Design of highly available, mission-critical applications and infrastructure capacity/performance assessment.
