Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A law degree from an Ontario law school.

  • 2-3 years of practical litigation experience, preferably with an emphasis on personal injury, Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS) claims, and general civil litigation.
  • Experience drafting pleadings, motion materials, legal opinions, and other litigation documents.
  • Familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure and proceedings before the Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT).
  • Experience with examinations for discovery, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
  • Strong analytical, research, drafting, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, professionalism, sound judgment, and a strong work ethic.
  • The ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple files and deadlines.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of litigation matters, including:

  • Managing personal injury, accident benefits, and general civil litigation files.
  • Drafting pleadings, motions, affidavits, and other court documents.
  • Conducting legal research and preparing legal opinions.
  • Attending examinations for discovery, mediations, motions, and hearings.
  • Negotiating settlements and communicating with opposing counsel.
  • Working directly with clients, experts, and other professionals.
  • Assisting with trial preparation and participating in court proceedings.

What We Offer

  • Exposure to a broad range of litigation matters.
  • Hands-on experience and meaningful responsibility for files.
  • Opportunities to develop courtroom and advocacy skills.
  • Mentorship and professional development.
  • A collegial and supportive working environment.
  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.
  • Opportunities for long-term professional growth.

We will also consider lawyers with an existing client base who are interested in joining an established firm structure. Appropriate arrangements may be discussed based on experience and the nature of the existing practice.
