About the Job
Are you an Emulsions industry professional who sees opportunities before they become obvious? Are you ready for a role where your market knowledge, commercial thinking, and analytical skills can directly influence business strategy?
We’re looking for a commercially minded professional to join our Walker Emulsions Division and help identify, evaluate, and shape the next generation of growth opportunities.
Reporting directly to the Director of Business Development, you’ll take early-stage ideas and turn them into clear, evidence-based business cases that senior leadership can act on. The salary for this position is between $90,000-$100,000/year based on qualifications and experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Translates early-stage opportunity hypotheses into structured assessments, ensuring all questions at each stage of the canvas are complete before an opportunity advances.
- Builds the desirability, viability, and feasibility case for each opportunity and identifies the assumptions and risks that most affect the decision.
- Gathers and evaluates primary and secondary market information, including customer and industry interviews, published market data, trade and technical literature, competitor information, and internal sales and operating data.
- Build strong Strategic Opportunity Assessment by identifying and evaluating new ideas by conducting market sizing, customer segmentation, competitive analysis, and financial modeling to determine commercial completeness.
- Constructs financial models to evaluate proposed business cases, including volume, pricing, contribution margin, cost to serve, capital requirements, payback, and scenario and sensitivity analysis.
- Quantifies the effect of each opportunity on the existing business, including cannibalization, capacity, product mix, and margin, and flags where growth in one area comes at the expense of another.
- Works closely with the Process Manager on trials and stage gate coordination, analyzing the technical and manufacturing feasibility information provided by Operations, Product Development, and contributing opportunity documentation and evidence to support current status and decision records.
- Assembles competitive and customer intelligence from the Sales and technical service teams and integrates it into opportunity assessments.
- Prepares clear written assessments and presentations for the Director of Business Development and senior leadership, telling a compelling story from multiple data sources while making assumptions visible enough to be challenged.
- Conducts ongoing research to identify business opportunities and shares best practices within the division and across the corporation.
Here’s What You Need
- Minimum bachelor's degree in business, commerce, finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.
- Greater than five years of experience in commercial analysis, corporate development, market research, or financial analysis, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience with stage gate or business case processes is an asset.
- A valid G Registration Ontario Driver’s Licence.
- Experience in data analysis, with demonstrated financial modelling skills in Excel, including forecasting and scenario analysis.
What’s in it for you
- You become part of a team you can count on
- A comprehensive total rewards package and benefits to support your wellbeing
- Leaders who support your growth and success
- A workplace that provides the best health & safety practices in industry
- Give back to your community with two paid volunteer days annually and opportunities to become involved in events
