Are you an experienced IT professional who enjoys solving complex technology challenges, optimizing data environments, and helping businesses get more value from their systems?
We’re looking for a Senior Database Specialist to join our team and play a key role in supporting and evolving our SharePoint, SQL Server, Microsoft Access, reporting, and data integration environments. Reporting directly to the Enterprise Systems Manager, you’ll be a trusted technical resource for both our IT team and business users. You’ll have the opportunity to assess new technologies and capabilities, identify opportunities to improve how we use data, and help deliver solutions that make a real impact across the organization.
You’ll also take ownership of several specialized Microsoft Access database applications and custom reporting solutions supporting critical business operations. Across all areas of the role, you’ll help ensure our systems remain secure, reliable, well-maintained, and aligned with data management best practices.
Location: Niagara Falls or Oakville, Ontario
Work Arrangement: Hybrid - 2 days working from home
Salary: $80,000–$100,000, based on experience and qualifications
What You’ll Be Doing
Administer, maintain, secure, and optimize SharePoint and SQL Server environments, including upgrades, patches, backups, and performance monitoring.
Manage SharePoint sites, permissions, security, documentation, and end-user support and training.
Manage SQL Server databases and support database architecture, query design, maintenance, and release deployments.
Develop and maintain Microsoft Access database applications supporting specialized business functions.
Design and maintain data integration solutions that automate processes and connect business systems.
Integrate enterprise data with the Oracle Data Warehouse, ensuring data quality and adherence to data-management best practices.
Develop and maintain Crystal Reports supporting key business applications, including Apex, PC Scale, and Tower.
Partner with developers, business users, and IT teams to troubleshoot issues, improve system capabilities, and identify opportunities to leverage technology and data more effectively.
Provide technical guidance and support to users while ensuring system reliability, security, and compliance across assigned technologies.
Here’s What You Need
5+ years of experience working with SharePoint and SQL Server.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong computer skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple systems and software platforms.
Proficiency in Transact-SQL (T-SQL) and Oracle PL/SQL.
Experience working with large volumes of data and applying sound data-management practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive company information responsibly.
Familiarity with software development processes and practices.
Assets
Microsoft MCSE – SharePoint or equivalent certification.
Microsoft MCSA – SQL Server or MCSE – Data Management & Analytics certification.
Experience with Microsoft Access database development.
Experience with Crystal Reports and enterprise reporting environments.
Experience with data integration and data warehousing.
