Original job description

Role At a Glance

Help shape the future of a growing organization where finance is more than the numbers.

As our Senior Finance Manager, you'll play a key role in guiding strategic decisions across multiple businesses, including our architecture and engineering consulting practice and our construction management company. Partnering closely with senior leaders, you'll provide the financial insights, leadership, and operational excellence that fuel growth, support smart decision-making, and drive business performance.

In this role, you'll lead core finance functions including month-end close, financial reporting, accounts payable, and financial operations. You'll strengthen controls, build scalable processes, and help evolve a finance function that supports WalterFedy's continued growth and long-term success.

We're looking for a collaborative, forward-thinking leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution. You'll be equally comfortable mentoring and developing a high-performing team, partnering with business leaders, and rolling up your sleeves to ensure accuracy and excellence in our financial operations.

You'll also help modernize how finance operates by championing technology, automation, and AI solutions that improve efficiency, enhance reporting, strengthen controls, and enable the team to focus on higher-value work.

If you're excited by the opportunity to influence strategy, drive meaningful change, and make a lasting impact across a growing organization, we'd love to hear from you.

What you will do

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

Lead and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Review financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting across all entities.
Analyze financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Partner with leadership to support operational and strategic decision-making.

Finance Operations Leadership

Oversee accounts payable, cash management, and other transactional finance processes.
Ensure consistent execution of finance policies and procedures across all companies.
Develop, coach, and mentor members of the finance team.
Establish clear accountability, service levels, and performance expectations.

Internal Controls & Governance

Maintain and strengthen internal controls appropriate for a growing organization.
Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and audit expectations.
Identify control gaps and implement scalable solutions.
Support external audits and other compliance initiatives.

Process Improvement, Technology & AI

Champion continuous improvement initiatives across finance operations.
Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and reduce administrative effort.
Leverage AI and technology solutions to improve AP workflows, reporting, approvals, reconciliations, and data quality.
Partner with business leaders to implement best practices and scalable processes.

Business Partnership

Partner with business leaders to analyze financial performance, develop dashboards and reporting, evaluate business cases and investment opportunities, and provide insights that support strategic decision-making.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management activities.
Understand operational drivers within both the consulting and construction management businesses.
Help leaders translate financial information into actionable business decisions.

What you bring to the table

CPA designation or equivalent accounting qualification.
7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
3+ years leading and developing a finance team.
Strong experience with financial reporting, month-end close, and accounting operations.
Proven ability to improve processes and implement change.

Preferred

Experience within architecture, engineering, construction, project-based consulting, or construction management industries.
Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting, project accounting, holdbacks, and construction-related financial processes.
Experience implementing or optimizing ERP systems.
Demonstrated use of automation and AI tools to improve finance operations.
Strong understanding of internal controls, risk management, and governance.
