Why Choose Us

We are Waste Connections of Canada, an integrated services company that provides solid waste collection, transfer, disposal and recycling services to local residents and businesses throughout the U.S. and Canada. We’re proud to be a different kind of company with a different kind of culture. One where self-directed, empowered employees have our trust and full support to realize their potential as they strive to make a bigger and better impact on their communities and careers every day.

As a Gas Technician with us the minimum responsibilities are:

  • Monitor, inspect, and maintain landfill gas collection field equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation.
  • Perform daily operations including inspecting, cleaning, repairing, and maintaining gas collection wells, piping, and associated systems.
  • Troubleshoot, restart, and repair equipment following unscheduled shutdowns or system trips (mechanical, electrical, electronic, and plumbing).
  • Collect, record, analyze, and report operational performance data, including gas system metrics and leachate levels in gas collection wells.
  • Conduct routine and non‑routine preventative maintenance to minimize equipment failures and unplanned downtime.
  • Support leachate and condensate management activities, including liquid movement, pump operation, and assigned system repairs or projects.
  • Operate forklifts, man lifts, and other mobile equipment as required, and perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal and deicing around field equipment.
  • Perform data analysis from field equipment readings to draw conclusions and report on system performance.
  • Complete work orders, maintain accurate documentation, order parts and supplies, and comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

This position is mainly field work (80%) and requires our Gas Technician to work outdoors in all weather conditions to maintain and monitor field equipment.

What We Need From You

  • Post-secondary studies in Environmental Engineering or related field
  • A commitment to working safely and addressing potential hazards proactively.
  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis
  • An ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be comfortable working on outdoor equipment in all weather conditions.
  • Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and an openness to building new technical skills.
  • Willing to join an on‑call rotation (about one week per month) and remain within 30 minutes of the site during on‑call weeks.

What You’ll Get From Us

  • Competitive wages: $63,000.00 annually with paid overtime and on-call premium
  • Retirement plan with company match to help you save for your future.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Dental, and Vision.
  • Perks including an Employee Assistance Program, Scholarship Opportunities for children, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
