WatchDog is a high-growth, private hardware-enabled SaaS company transforming the way energy producers operate in the field through integrated software and purpose-built hardware solutions.

As we expand our customer base, grow recurring revenue, and scale our operations, we are strengthening our finance function to support sustainable growth and operational excellence.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Revenue & Financial Analyst to support recurring revenue management, customer billing, sales tax compliance, and financial reporting.

This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the development of scalable financial processes in a growing technology company while working closely with Finance, Sales, and Operations.

Role Overview

The Revenue & Financial Analyst will play a key role in managing the company’s recurring revenue accounting, service plan invoicing, collections, and sales tax reporting.

This individual will help ensure the accuracy and completeness of revenue-related financial information while supporting month-end and quarter-end reporting activities.

The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where processes and systems are continually evolving.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their accounting and financial analysis skills within a hardware-enabled SaaS business.

Key Responsibilities

1. Recurring Revenue Management

Manage and maintain accurate recurring revenue records across the company’s subscription service customer base.
Support the accounting and reporting of subscription service revenue, including annual billing arrangements.
Maintain the dedicated recurring revenue system – Flowrev – that calculates recurring revenue, deferred revenue, and feeds into related balance sheet accounts in Xero.
Reconcile recurring revenue subledgers and billing systems to the general ledger.
Assist with revenue recognition calculations and ensure appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
Identify billing discrepancies, contract changes, and revenue-related issues.
Support the reporting for key SaaS metrics, including ARR, MRR, NRR and Customer Cubes.

2. Subscription Invoicing & Collections

Prepare and issue recurring subscription invoices in accordance with customer contracts and billing schedules.
Ensure invoices are accurate, timely, and appropriately reflect applicable taxes and contractual terms.
Monitor accounts receivable balances and follow up on overdue subscription invoices.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders and customers to resolve billing discrepancies and payment issues.
Record and reconcile customer payments.
Support improvements to automated billing and collection processes as the company scales.

3. Sales Tax Reporting & Compliance

Prepare and support sales tax reporting obligations across applicable Canadian and United States jurisdictions.
Reconcile sales tax accounts and investigate discrepancies.
Assist with the preparation and filing of GST/HST, provincial sales taxes, and other applicable indirect tax returns.
Maintain supporting documentation for sales tax filings and audits.
Monitor changes in sales tax requirements and coordinate with external tax advisors when required.

4. Month-End & Quarter-End Financial Reporting

Support the month-end and quarter-end financial close processes.
Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules for subscription services revenue, deferred revenue, and sales tax accounts.
Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules for capital assets, equity, and certain other balance sheet accounts.
Prepare financial analysis and reporting schedules as assigned by the Controller.
Investigate variances and identify unusual transactions or accounting discrepancies.
Support the preparation of management reporting packages and financial information for internal stakeholders.
Ensure financial records and supporting documentation are complete and accurate.

5. Accounting Operations & Process Improvement

Assist with maintaining accurate accounting records and financial schedules.
Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve data accuracy.
Assist with audit requests, internal controls, and financial documentation.
Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Operations, and Customer Success to resolve revenue-related issues.
Contribute to the development of scalable financial processes that support future company growth.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
2–5 years of relevant accounting or financial analysis experience.
Experience with recurring revenue accounting, invoicing, or accounts receivable.
Strong Excel or spreadsheet skills.
Understanding of fundamental accounting principles and financial reporting.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines.

Preferred

Progress toward CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
Experience in a SaaS, technology, subscription-based, or hardware-enabled business.
Familiarity with revenue recognition and deferred revenue accounting.
Experience with Canadian GST/HST and provincial sales tax reporting.
Experience with ERP, subscription billing, or financial management systems.
Experience supporting month-end and quarter-end financial close processes.
Exposure to international billing and sales tax requirements.
Experience working in a growing company where processes and systems are evolving.

Accurate and timely recurring revenue invoicing aligned with customer contracts.
Reliable reconciliation of billing systems, accounts receivable, deferred revenue, and the general ledger.
Timely and accurate preparation of sales tax reports and supporting documentation.
Consistent delivery of assigned month-end and quarter-end reporting activities.
Improved visibility into recurring revenue, billing, and collections performance.
Reduced billing discrepancies and improved collection follow-up processes.
Documented and scalable revenue accounting procedures that support future growth.
Strong working relationships with Finance, Sales, and Operations teams.
