Role Description

We are looking for someone to join our Human Resources team as a Human Resources Generalist. We are seeking a detail-oriented, people-focused professional who brings a high level of discretion, strong organizational skills, and a genuine interest in supporting the people who make WPL work. The ideal candidate is a reliable and proactive administrator who communicates clearly, handles sensitive information with care, and thrives in a role where accuracy and follow-through matter.

What You'll Do

Support recruitment processes, including preparing and posting job opportunities, screening applications, scheduling and participating in interviews, and conducting reference checks.
Conduct bi-weekly payroll administration, including entering new employees, processing pay-related changes, reports, data entry, and maintaining accurate payroll records.
Coordinate new employee onboarding activities, including documentation, orientation, and training across the Library system.
Administer employee benefit and pension programs, including processing enrolments, changes, terminations and related updates.
Coordinate staff learning and development activities, including organization-wide training initiatives and Staff Development Day.
Maintain accurate, complete and confidential employee records and personnel files in accordance with organizational practices and applicable requirements.
Complete special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Minimum two-year college diploma in Human Resources Management or a related field from a recognized institution.
A minimum of two years of related experience in recruitment and human resources administration.
Experience maintaining confidential employee information, records and documentation.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships quickly and work effectively with employees, leaders and external partners.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, priorities and deadlines independently.
Demonstrated professionalism and sound judgment when handling sensitive and confidential matters.
Strong technology literacy, including the ability to learn and use payroll, scheduling, benefits and other administrative systems.
Experience with benefits, pension or payroll administration and working toward a CHRP designation are considered assets.

Schedule

The regular schedule will be Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Schedules are subject to change. The ability to work at any WPL location is required.

Salary/Benefits

The starting salary is $61,880 per year (level E)

Group benefits and OMERS pension with matching employer contributions are provided. Full-time permanent staff are entitled to paid vacation time, sick time, personal time and appointment time. WPL offers a casual work environment, support for professional development and your birthday off with pay!
