SENIOR ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER
Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Reports to: Electrical Engineering Manager
Compensation: $115,000+ CAD, DOE
Our client is a growing, vertically integrated manufacturer of large-scale, custom industrial equipment for the roll-forming industry, and they're looking for a Senior Electrical Designer to own complete electrical schematics from concept through to a finished bill of materials.
Your Role:
Every build starts from a clean sheet, there's no existing design to inherit or repurpose. You'll own complete electrical schematics for large, custom machines end to end, working closely with mechanical engineering and the controls team, and you'll have real input into how a growing design team operates as it expands.
What You'll Do:
- Design, detail, and revise complete electrical schematics for custom equipment using AutoCAD Electrical
- Generate accurate bills of materials that reflect the final design
- Source and specify the right electrical components and devices at the design stage
- Support commissioning, startup, and on-site troubleshooting for equipment you've designed
- Act as a liaison between mechanical engineering, testing, and the controls team to resolve design and manufacturing issues
- Provide informal mentorship and technical guidance to intermediate and junior designers on the team
What You'll Bring:
- Strong, hands-on experience designing electrical schematics for custom equipment using AutoCAD Electrical
- Comfortable designing from scratch, every project here is custom with little to borrow from past jobs
- Experience sourcing and specifying electrical components and generating accurate BOMs
- Engineering degree, technical diploma, or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical design
- Exposure to motion control system design (servo drives, VFD motors) and PLC/HMI programming; Allen-Bradley platform experience is a plus
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or equivalent) without the need for employer-sponsored work permit support
