Original job description

Who We Are:

Muniworth is a cloud-based SaaS startup in the growth phase, dedicated to empowering municipal utilities and governments with financial forecasting tools. Our platform enables local governments to achieve financial sustainability and make informed, data-driven decisions through robust modelling and compelling visuals.

Job Summary:

The Business Data Analyst will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving sales, customer success and revenue dashboards to provide real-time insights into business performance. The role involves presenting findings executives, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing data-driven recommendations. The Business Data Analyst will also play an essential role in training and upskilling internal stakeholders, ensuring the broader organization can leverage data effectively in decision-making.

About Our Approach:

We believe that we must have a deep understanding of how each part of the business is operating to continue growing Muniworth and to further realize our vision. Ensuring each department is heard and supported in making decisions through data-driven insights is paramount to our success.

We pride ourselves in bridging the gap between data and the organization’s sales and client success processes through analysis, mathematics, and communication. We are relied upon to contribute a quantitative perspective on the operations across all teams and deliver numerical solutions, insights, and tooling where appropriate.

We always consider the wider impact of any single decision and uphold the greatest integrity to positively move the company forward. This requires a high level of attention to detail and ongoing diligence to monitor and improve systems that we have built.

Analytics is located at the heart of the business, meaning we regularly spend time with each member of the company, making personal connections easy to come by.

What You Will Do:

Provide each area of the business the support to manage internal processes, analytics and numerical functionality.
You will build new projects and maintain existing systems in a team environment, ensuring stability and long-term maintainability.
You will produce regular reports and conduct ad-hoc analysis in Excel; you will build and maintain dashboards in Power BI.
You will communicate progress and coordinate efforts with sales, client success, and engineering.
You will contribute to the modelling of internal web applications that will support operational processes and strategic initiatives. If applicable, you may also take part in the development efforts of our internal platform directly.
You will be fully engaged in an on-site environment in Victoria, BC, contributing to close collaboration and strong team culture.

Application Process:

For your initial application, please submit your resume and complete the questionnaire. Cover letters are optional for applying to this role and present an opportunity for you to share more about yourself and why there may be a great fit. Please do not use AI if you decide to submit a cover letter; it is not a box that simply needs to be checked.

We will be reaching out to candidates in consideration to schedule a virtual screening interview. Arrangements for an in-person interview and technical assessment will be made thereafter. All interviews are conducted by the direct manager(s) for the role.

About You:

You are an experienced and enthusiastic analytical thinker.
You have previously worked, either through an internship or full-time permanent employment, as a business data analyst (or equivalent).
You can collaborate closely with team leads and C-Suite executives to build a rich understanding of sales performance, client behaviour and financial reporting.
You have excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills, with the capability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
You have a bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics, data science, economics, philosophy or a related field. Extensive experience and demonstrated competency will be considered equivalent.
You have very strong Excel skills with several years of applied experience. This will be tested as part of the interview process and is non-negotiable. Historically, we have encountered many applicants that try to bluff their way through the technical Excel assessment. Please do not apply if you do not have strong Excel skills.
You ideally have experience with programming beyond writing queries or scripts.
You are in search of an opportunity that can satisfy your drive for always expanding your knowledge and technical competence.
You are an opinionated team player that can complement the existing skill sets and perspectives of our team.

Why Join Us:
