About the Job
We are hiring a Quality Assurance - Systems Manager to step into a new role on our Quality team on the Hazel McCallion project. This position reports to the Quality Director.
What You Will Be Doing?
- Lead and provide independent Quality Assurance oversight of Systems construction, installation, testing, commissioning, documentation, and handover activities.
- Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System, Systems Quality Plans, contractual requirements, technical specifications, approved drawings, procedures, and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Manage and coordinate Systems QA personnel, establishing priorities based on construction sequencing, project milestones, testing and commissioning requirements, and quality risk.
- Monitor the effectiveness of Systems Quality Control activities and implement or escalate corrective actions where deficiencies, recurring issues, or systemic weaknesses are identified.
- Oversee implementation, administration, tracking, and closure of Systems ITPs, including hold points, inspection and test records, deficiencies, NCRs, supporting documentation, and third-party requirements.
- Maintain oversight of Systems quality trackers, including ITPs, NCRs, deficiencies, punch lists, testing records, and other key quality deliverables, and escalate overdue or incomplete items.
- Ensure NCRs, deficiencies, and other quality issues are appropriately documented, assigned, corrected, verified, and closed in accordance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with Construction, Design, Engineering, Quality Control, Testing & Commissioning, Document Control, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders to resolve quality issues and support project delivery.
- Verify that construction quality prerequisites, including inspections, PICO activities, NCRs, deficiencies, and required records, are satisfactorily completed prior to testing, commissioning, energization, or system turnover.
- Maintain oversight of the preparation and completeness of Systems quality records and confirm that required documentation and outstanding quality issues are appropriately resolved prior to formal handover.
- Identify, communicate, and escalate significant quality risks, documentation gaps, and issues that may impact construction acceptance, testing and commissioning, safety certification, system integration, or project handover.
- Provide regular quality status reporting to the Quality Director and Project Leadership and participate in Systems Quality coordination and readiness meetings.
- Maintain the independence and authority of the Quality Assurance function while promoting consistent quality practices and continuous improvement across the Systems organization.
What We Are Looking For?
- A University degree in a relevant discipline (civil, mechanical preferred), or the equivalent; Equivalent combinations of relevant education and extensive demonstrated Systems Quality experience may be considered.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of quality management experience in the construction of infrastructure/transit projects.
- Experience with the construction and installation of rail transit systems or other complex multidisciplinary infrastructure systems.
- Experience with traction power, overhead contact systems, signalling, communications, electrical, mechanical, SCADA, train control, or related railway systems.
- Experience supporting Testing & Commissioning and integrated systems handover.
- Experience working on large Design-Build, P3, Alliance, or alternative-delivery infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System requirements.
- Internal or Lead Auditor training/certification.
- Experience conducting supplier, subcontractor, field-process, and project quality audits.
- Effective partnering, leadership, coaching, and team-development skills.
Expected Compensation
Successful candidates chosen for this position can expect to earn between $125,000.00 CAD - $175,000.00 CAD. The exact salary you will earn within this range is dependant on the specific project to which you are assigned.
