Who Are You?
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Accounting Specialist contributes to the accuracy and reliability of the company’s financial records by supporting key accounting processes. This role performs a range of core accounting functions, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations, general journal entries, and depreciation processing, while also providing support to the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams. This role supports accurate financial transaction processing by working closely with business units to identify and resolve discrepancies, with a primary focus on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
What you will do:
- Perform monthly bank account reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Complete balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are accurately supported and documented
- Prepare and post general journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and correcting entries
- Process fixed asset depreciation on a recurring schedule, ensuring calculations and postings are accurate
- Assist the Accounts Payable team as needed, including invoice processing, vendor inquiries, and payment support
- Assist the Accounts Receivable team as needed, including invoicing, cash application, and collections support
- Maintain organized supporting documentation for all reconciliations and journal entries in accordance with company policy
- Monitor, Identify and communicate discrepancies, unusual account activity, and work with business units to resolve, with guidance from Controller
- Support month-end and year-end close processes as required
- Assist with internal and external audit requests, providing documentation as needed.
- Other accounting duties, as required.
Sound Familiar?
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent relevant accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and month-end close processes.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Working towards or holding a professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA)
- Prior exposure to both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
