Executive Director

Calgary Rotary Challenger Park | Calgary, Alberta

Help Lead a Place Where Everyone Can Play

Wendy Ellen Inc. is supporting Calgary Rotary Challenger Park in the search for an outstanding Executive Director to continue the stewardship of this unique and important Calgary organization.

Rotary Challenger Park is an inclusive recreational facility where people of all ages and abilities can participate, connect and play.

This is a hands-on Executive Director position. While there is support staff, the ED does much of the heavy lifting - leading operations, managing finances, supporting the Board and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders integral to the Park’s success.

The Role

Reporting to the Board of Directors, you will:

  • Lead the Park's day-to-day operations and support staff/contractors.
  • Manage operating and capital budgets and financial performance.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for the Board.
  • Oversee facility, lease, tenant and operational requirements.
  • Maintain key relationships with Calgary Airport Authority, Rotary, municipalities, government representatives, foundations, donors, sponsors, tenants, facility users and community organizations.
  • Identify grants, funding opportunities and new partnerships.
  • Represent the Park throughout Calgary and the broader community.

Who We're Looking For

You are an experienced Executive Director, CEO, General Manager or senior leader who is comfortable moving between strategy and execution.

You bring:

  • Senior leadership experience within a nonprofit, charitable, recreational, community, municipal or similarly stakeholder-driven organization.
  • Demonstrated financial and budget management experience.
  • Experience working directly with a governance Board.
  • Strong stakeholder and relationship-management capabilities.
  • Experience with grants, fundraising, sponsorships or donor development.
  • Ability to work effectively with municipal and government representatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience preparing reports, financial information and recommendations for a Board.
  • Experience with facilities, leases, tenants or property-related relationships would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.

Why This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to combine business leadership with community purpose and help guide the next chapter of an organization built around a simple principle:

Everyone should have a place to play.

Salary: $130,000–$140,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

If you're a senior leader who enjoys hands-on involvement, strategy, building relationships and making things happen, we'd like to hear from you.
