Process & Data Mapping Associate to support continuous improvement across our production and warehouse operations.
The primary focus of this role is analyzing and interpreting manufacturing data to identify trends, bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement. You will work with large operational datasets, production KPIs, and information from multiple systems to understand what is happening on the shop floor and translate findings into practical recommendations.
The role also includes direct observation of production processes, working with operators and supervisors to validate findings, and documenting current and improved workflows. This is a hands-on position that combines data analysis with a practical understanding of manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Production Data Analysis & Reporting- Collect, organize, clean, and analyze production and operational data from multiple sources
- Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, bottlenecks, downtime, process variation, recurring issues, and improvement opportunities
- Work with large datasets and validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency before drawing conclusions
- Develop and maintain Excel reports, dashboards, trackers, and analytical tools to support operational decision-making
- Compare production performance across processes, equipment, products, shifts, or time periods to identify meaningful patterns
- Translate data findings into clear conclusions and practical recommendations for production and operational teams
- Establish and monitor relevant KPIs to measure process performance and the impact of implemented improvements
- Present analytical findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Process Improvement & Operational Analysis- Work directly with production teams to understand the operational context behind the data and validate analytical findings
- Observe production and warehouse processes firsthand to understand workflows, material movement, equipment use, and operator practices
- Investigate production issues using data, direct observation, and input from operators and supervisors
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to productivity, quality, workflow, and other operational issues
- Develop and evaluate practical process-improvement options based on quantitative and observational findings
- Support pilot activities, implementation, and follow-up to determine whether improvements are achieving the expected results
Process Mapping & Documentation- Document current-state workflows and key process steps based on production-floor observation and stakeholder input
- Create and update process maps, flowcharts, SOPs, work instructions, and other process documentation
- Help develop improved future-state workflows where process changes are required
- Work with operators, supervisors, and process owners to ensure documentation accurately reflects how work is performed
- Support the transition of successful process improvements into clear and sustainable standard work
Requirements
- 1–3 years of relevant experience working with manufacturing, production, operational, or industrial data. Relevant co-op or internship experience may be considered
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, Statistics, Business Analytics, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline. Other educational backgrounds may be considered with directly relevant manufacturing or production data-analysis experience
- Demonstrated experience analyzing production or manufacturing datasets to identify trends, issues, bottlenecks, or process-improvement opportunities
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence organizing, manipulating, validating, and interpreting large datasets
- Ability to move beyond reporting and dashboards to draw meaningful conclusions from data and recommend practical operational improvements
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, warehouse, or other industrial environment is strongly preferred
- Comfortable working directly with production teams and spending time on the shop floor to understand and validate what the data is showing
- Previous experience with process improvement, root cause analysis, workflow analysis, or continuous improvement projects
- Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly to operators, supervisors, and other stakeholders
- Strong attention to data accuracy and experience handling confidential or sensitive business information appropriately
- A valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle are required for travel between our Port Coquitlam and Pitt Meadows locations
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with Power BI, Python, SQL, or similar data-analysis and visualization tools
- Experience working with ERP or manufacturing systems
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Value Stream Mapping, 5 Why, Pareto analysis, or other continuous-improvement tools
- Experience creating process maps, workflow diagrams, SOPs, or standardized work documentation
