Finance Analyst

Vancouver, BC

THE OPPORTUNITY

Wesgroup is entering an exciting phase of growth and investment, and we are seeking a highly engaged, driven Finance Analyst to join our team.

In this role, you will support financing activities across a growing real estate portfolio, with a focus on financing applications, lender reporting, refinancing, rental housing financing, and capital planning. The ideal candidate brings strong financial acumen, advanced analytical and Excel skills, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset. You are naturally curious, detail-driven, and eager to collaborate across the organization to support sound financial decision-making and improve processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to work closely with the Vice President, Finance, gain exposure to senior leadership across the organization, and build specialized experience in real estate financing and capital planning.

Wesgroup started as a family business in British Columbia more than 70 years ago and today is one of Western Canada’s largest private real estate companies with a diversified portfolio spanning across residential and commercial real estate. WHAT YOU'LL DO

Financing Transactions and Funding

Prepare and coordinate financing applications for construction, term, acquisition, refinancing, and rental housing loans.
Support the term financing and refinancing of income-producing properties.
Coordinate underwriting information, appraisals, lender due diligence, commitment letters, and closing requirements.
Track conditions required for funding and help facilitate timely loan advances.

Lender Reporting and Compliance

Coordinate annual bank reviews and respond to lender information requests.
Gather and review financial, operational, property, and covenant information.
Prepare and submit accurate and complete lender reporting packages.
Track reporting obligations and covenant requirements under financing agreements.

Stakeholder Coordination and Relationship Management

Build and maintain productive relationships with lenders and other industry professionals.
Partner with Finance, Treasury, Accounting, Development, Construction, Asset Management, Sales, and Sustainability teams to obtain information required for financing and reporting.
Coordinate critical activities associated with first draws, account openings, and funding requirements.
Work with appraisers and internal teams to provide property, leasing, operating, and market information supporting valuations and financing activities.

Process Improvement and Project Support

Support initiatives that reduce borrowing costs and improve financing efficiency.
Use technology and digital tools to streamline reporting, collaboration, and workflows.
Work closely with the Vice President, Finance on special projects, financing priorities, and other assigned responsibilities, with regular exposure to senior leaders across the organization.

WHAT YOU BRING

Professional Experience

A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Real Estate, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Up to three years of relevant experience in real estate finance, commercial lending, mortgage banking, accounting, corporate finance, or a related field. Strong candidates with one to two years of directly relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
Experience with rental housing financing, including purpose-built rental housing.
Experience preparing or coordinating applications through CMHC’s Apartment Construction Loan Program (ACLP), BC Builds, or similar government-supported housing programs is considered a strong asset.
Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Knowledge of commercial real estate financing and lending practices.
Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A proactive, curious mindset and an interest in improving processes.
The ability to build effective relationships with internal teams and external partners.

A CPA, CFA, or progress toward a professional accounting or finance designation is considered an asset.

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience would be an advantage:

Supporting commercial real estate financing transactions, including construction and term financing.
Coordinating annual bank reviews and lender information requests.
Working with institutional lenders, CMHC, BC Housing, appraisers, legal counsel, and third-party consultants.
Familiarity with lender underwriting, appraisal processes, covenant compliance, funding conditions, and ongoing debt reporting.

COMPENSATION

Annual Base Salary: The expected salary range for this role is $75,000- $95,000 per annum. Actual offered salary will depend on individual experience, qualifications, geographic location, market conditions for the role, and internal equity.
