Original job description
Location: Edmonton area, Alberta | Fully on-site, five days a week
Industry: Hyperscale Data Centers | AI and Digital Infrastructure
Employment: Full-Time or Contract | Project Manager, multiple positions
The Opportunity
We are partnering with an early-stage data center developer building hyperscale campuses across North America. Its Edmonton-region campus is under construction on a fast schedule to be ready for service in late 2027, and the site team is hiring several project managers.
These are field roles. The site leadership is hiring builders: project managers who walk the work every day and sort out problems on the spot with their contractors.
You own a data hall, a discipline or a defined package and carry it through installation, commissioning and turnover.
What You'll Own
- Run your scope from the field every day with the general contractor: schedule, cost, quality, and safety.
- Manage the contractors and trades on your package. Hold them to their commitments, challenge look-aheads and change requests, and work site issues through as they come up.
- Own the schedule, risks, and deliverables for your hall or package, and address problems before they reach a milestone.
- Handle budgets, contracts, purchase orders, payment applications and change management as part of the job.
- Coordinate owner-furnished equipment deliveries against the installation sequence and keep your scope aligned with the neighbouring packages.
- Step in on other workstreams when priorities shift across the site.
- Support commissioning and turnover as each hall approaches ready-for-service.
What You Bring
- Direct, hands-on experience delivering mission-critical or data center construction.
- A record of running construction scopes in the field: managing contractors, driving the schedule, and resolving site issues yourself.
- Ownership of your scope and the judgment to solve problems independently, without constant direction.
- Fluency in budgets, schedules, contracts, purchase orders, payment applications, and change management.
- Full-time presence on site in the Edmonton area, five days a week with no hybrid arrangement, and availability for weekend work and extra hours when the build calls for it.
Who Gets Our Attention
A technical background in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, architectural or structural work. Civil work on site is winding down, so experience in electrical and mechanical installation, building fit-out, commissioning and turnover lines up best with the phases ahead.
Experience on both sides of the industry stands out, with contractor-side years followed by owner or consultancy work. Canadian delivery experience counts, particularly winter construction.
The Person
You are a builder first. You take accountability for your scope and work through problems without waiting to be told how. You bring energy and a can-do attitude to a demanding site, and when another workstream needs a hand, you pitch in.
You know what you are signing up for: a large, fast-moving build with an aggressive delivery date, where weekends and longer days are part of getting it finished.
Why This One?
You join a hyperscale campus build while the site team is still forming, with a full data hall or major package matched to what you can deliver.
You work on the owner side for a developer with a pipeline of campuses across North America, which is where the next assignments come from.
Location
Edmonton area, Alberta, fully on-site five days a week. Relocation support is available.
Compensation
CAD $140,000 to $210,000 base salary, depending on experience and level. Full-time employment and contract arrangements are both considered. Comprehensive benefits package.
