We’re searching for a Business Development Executive, Group Benefits. Are you searching for new possibilities?

Westland Insurance Group Ltd. is growing, and we’re looking for a driven, relationship-focused sales professional to accelerate the growth of our national Group Benefits division. As a Business Development Executive, you'll identify, develop, and secure new employee group benefits business opportunities across Canada. This is a high-impact sales role focused on generating new logo wins, expanding market presence, and strengthening client relationships while collaborating closely with internal teams.

You will leverage your knowledge of the Canadian employee benefits landscape to build strong client relationships, identify new business opportunities, and provide consultative support on group benefits solutions, including health, dental, disability, and life products. This position is a hybrid role based in Burlington, ON.

Expected Compensation: The expected hiring range for this role is $85,000 to $90,000 based on a 37.5-hour work week. Actual offered salary will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as market conditions for the role, and internal equity.

Why We’ll Love You

5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or client acquisition in the group insurance or employee benefits industry
Proven ability to meet or exceed B2B sales targets
Experience developing new business opportunities specifically within the employee benefits/group benefits industry
Leverage knowledge of group benefits products and industry trends to support client conversations
Strong understanding of group benefits products (health, dental, life, disability)
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Life licensed (LLQP) in your home province
Industry designations such as CEBS or GBA considered strong assets
High-energy, resilient, and growth-oriented mindset
Strong relationship-building skills and consultative approach

Once Here, You'll

Identify and pursue new business opportunities through outreach, networking, inbound leads, and digital channels
Meet and exceed individual sales targets within the Group Benefits division
Develop and manage a strong pipeline using CRM tools with accuracy and clarity
Conduct discovery conversations to assess client needs and recommend solutions
Prepare and deliver proposals and sales presentations to decision makers
Collaborate with Marketing, Underwriting, and carrier partners to develop effective strategies
Close new logo deals aligned with company goals and compliance requirements
Stay current with industry trends and Westland’s suite of benefits products
Represent Westland at conferences, networking events, and industry sessions
Ensure smooth onboarding and handoff of new clients to Account Managers

Responsibilities

Identify, develop, and close new group benefits business across Canada by prospecting, managing a CRM pipeline, assessing client needs, and presenting suitable solutions. Collaborate with Marketing, Underwriting, and carrier partners, represent Westland at industry events, and ensure new clients are smoothly handed off to Account Managers.

Requirements

Candidates need at least five years of business development, sales, or client acquisition experience in group insurance or employee benefits, a record of meeting or exceeding B2B sales targets, and strong knowledge of group benefits products. A life insurance licence (LLQP) in the candidate’s home province is required, while CEBS or GBA designations are considered assets; strong communication, negotiation, presentation, CRM, and Microsoft Office skills are also sought.
