Original job description

Weston Forest Sales Development Program

Learn the business. Build relationships. Own the outcome.

Location: 7600 Torbram Road, Mississauga, ON

Company: Weston Forest

You don’t need years of sales experience to build a great career in sales.

You need curiosity. Drive. Confidence. A willingness to learn. And the motivation to go after what you want.

At Weston Forest, we’re looking for the next generation of sales talent - people who are excited to learn the business, build relationships, create opportunities, and grow with us.

Maybe you’re early in your career. Maybe you’ve never worked in sales before. Maybe you have some experience under your belt, but you’re looking for somewhere you can have more ownership over what you build and where your career can take you.

We’re less interested in the perfect resume and more interested in who you are, how you show up, and what you’re capable of becoming.

You bring the drive. We’ll teach you the business.

What the opportunity looks like

The Weston Sales Development Program is designed to give you the foundation to build a long-term career in sales.

You’ll start by learning our business from the inside.

That means spending time in Inside Sales, where you’ll learn our products, customers, operations, systems, and what makes Weston Forest different. You’ll work alongside experienced people who know the industry and can teach you not only how our business works, but how great salespeople build trust, identify opportunities, solve problems, and create value for their customers.

But the goal isn’t for you to stay there forever.

As you build your knowledge, develop your sales skills, and demonstrate that you’re ready, we want you to grow into outside sales - building your network, developing your own customer relationships, creating new opportunities, and ultimately growing your business within ours.

There’s no one-size-fits-all timeline. Your growth will depend on what you put into it and when you’re ready for what’s next.

Learn it. Build it. Own it.

*Already an experienced outside sales professional? Already an experienced outside sales professional? This program is designed for people building their sales careers. If you have an established track record in outside sales or account management, check our careers page for current openings, or reach out to our HR team at HR@westonforest.com. We'd love to talk about opportunities that fit your experience!

What you’ll learn to do

We’re going to teach you the business. Your job is to be ready to learn it, get involved, and eventually make it your own.

You’ll learn how to:

Build authentic relationships with customers and turn those relationships into business opportunities.
Understand what customers need and find creative ways to help solve their problems.
Prospect, network, and create new opportunities rather than waiting for them to come to you.
Manage your own pipeline, priorities, follow-ups, and customer relationships.
Understand our products, services, operations, and the lumber and building materials industry.
Connect people to Weston Forest - through conversations, your network, in the market, and wherever new relationships are being built.
Work closely with Sales, Operations, Purchasing, and other teams across our business to make things happen for customers.
Develop the commercial judgment and sales skills to eventually manage and grow your own book of business.
Represent Weston Forest in the market and help shape what our brand becomes for the next generation of customers.

The kind of person we’re looking for

We’re not building a checklist of credentials.

We’re looking for personality, potential, and drive.

You might be a great fit if you:

Own the outcome.
You take initiative, follow through, and hold yourself accountable. You don’t need someone constantly telling you what to do next.
Are naturally entrepreneurial.
You like building things. You see opportunities and want to chase them. You’re comfortable taking initiative, trying things, and figuring things out along the way.
Like to win.
You’re competitive, motivated by goals, and get genuine satisfaction from seeing your effort turn into results.
Connect easily with people.
You enjoy meeting new people, building a network, earning trust, and maintaining relationships. You understand that great sales starts with genuine connection.
Are curious.
You ask questions. You want to understand how things work. You listen. You learn. And you’re not afraid to admit when you don’t know something.
Bring energy.
You’re excited about building your career and want to be surrounded by people who are equally motivated to build something.
Are resilient.
Sales comes with rejection. Not every call gets answered. Not every opportunity turns into a sale. You can hear “no,” learn from it, and keep moving.
Want ownership of your career.
You’re looking for more than your next job. You want somewhere you can learn, prove yourself, take on more responsibility, and build a career based on what you put into it.

Where this can take you

This isn’t about checking a box and spending a set amount of time in Inside Sales before automatically moving into another role.

It’s about building the skills and business knowledge to be successful when you get there.

As you develop, you’ll have the opportunity to take on more - more customer interaction, more responsibility, more independence, and eventually your own relationships and book of business in outside sales.

From there, where you take your career is up to you.

We want to develop people who can become great salespeople at Weston Forest - and, over time, the account managers, business developers, mentors, and sales leaders who help shape where we go next.

Why Weston Forest?

Weston Forest has been in business since 1953. We’re proud of where we’ve come from, but we’re even more interested in what we can build next.

The way customers buy, connect, communicate, and build relationships is changing. The next generation of Weston Forest needs people who are ready to change with it - and help lead it.

We want people who will bring new relationships, new ideas, new energy, and their own personality to how we show up in the market.

Because great salespeople don’t just sell products.

They create connections. They build trust. They solve problems. They spot opportunities. They make things happen. And they turn relationships into results.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn from an established business and experienced team while bringing your own ideas and approach to how we grow.

If you’re ambitious, curious, competitive, and excited by the idea of building something of your own within an established company, we want to hear from you.

You don’t need to know our industry yet.

You bring the drive. We’ll teach you the business.

Learn it. Build it. Own it.
