Guest Room Controls & Hospitality Technology Sales Specialist

Weston Security and Hospitality | Guest Room Controls, Energy Management & Hotel Technology

About Weston Security and Hospitality

Weston Security and Hospitality provides technology solutions for hotels, hotel ownership groups, management companies, developers, contractors, consultants, and other hospitality professionals across North America.

Our hospitality technology portfolio includes guest room controls, energy management systems, HVAC and thermostat controls, occupancy-based controls, electronic locking and access control solutions, RFID credentials, and related hotel technologies.

As a channel partner for Honeywell INNCOM guest room control and energy management solutions and Onity electronic locking solutions, we help hotels improve guest comfort, reduce unnecessary energy consumption, modernize guest rooms, and improve property operations.

We are looking for a commercially driven professional with experience or knowledge in Guest Room Controls, Guest Room Management Systems (GRMS), HVAC controls, Building Automation Systems (BAS), energy management, or hospitality technology to help grow this business.

Direct INNCOM experience is an advantage, but it is not required. Candidates with relevant experience from other guest room control, HVAC controls, building automation, or hotel technology platforms are strongly encouraged to apply.

About the Role

This is a technical sales and business development position focused primarily on Guest Room Controls and Guest Room Energy Management Systems.

The successful candidate will develop opportunities involving hotel guest room controls, thermostats, HVAC integration, occupancy-based energy management, sensors, room automation, and associated control technologies.

You will work with:

  • Hotel owners and hotel ownership groups
  • Hotel management companies
  • Hotel engineering and facilities teams
  • Developers
  • General contractors
  • Mechanical and HVAC contractors
  • Building automation and controls contractors
  • Electrical contractors and integrators
  • Consulting engineers
  • Architects and designers
  • Purchasing organizations
  • Hospitality technology consultants

The role combines technical sales, specification and project development, relationship management, prospecting, and account development.

Our ideal candidate does not necessarily need to come from one specific manufacturer. We are particularly interested in people who understand how a hotel guest room works from a controls perspective and can translate technical solutions into operational, guest-experience, and energy-management benefits.

What You'll Be Selling

Guest Room Controls & Energy Management

Solutions may include:

  • Guest room thermostats and HVAC controls
  • Occupancy-based energy management
  • Door and occupancy sensing
  • Temperature and environmental controls
  • Fan coil unit and PTAC/PTHP control applications
  • Guest room control networks
  • Central monitoring and management
  • Interfaces with hotel systems
  • Guest room automation and intelligent room controls
  • Retrofit and new-construction solutions
  • Honeywell INNCOM guest room control and energy management technology

The objective is not simply to sell a thermostat. It is to help customers develop a complete guest room controls strategy that supports guest comfort, hotel operations, energy efficiency, and property modernization.

Hospitality Access & Electronic Locking

As part of Weston's broader hospitality portfolio, you will also identify opportunities involving:

  • Onity electronic hotel locks
  • RFID and mobile-access technologies
  • Hotel access control
  • Lock replacement and modernization projects
  • Credentials and related hospitality access products

Guest room controls and energy management will remain the primary focus of the position.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop the Guest Room Controls Business
  • Identify new-construction, renovation, retrofit, and property-improvement opportunities involving guest room controls and energy management.
  • Develop relationships with hotel ownership groups, management companies, developers, consultants, engineers, mechanical contractors, controls contractors, and purchasing organizations.
  • Prospect for hotel projects where guest room HVAC controls, thermostats, occupancy detection, energy management, or room automation are being specified or replaced.
  • Build relationships early in the project lifecycle so Weston can influence specifications and solution selection.
  • Develop opportunities across individual hotels as well as multi-property hotel portfolios.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of qualified projects and customer opportunities.
  1. Technical & Consultative Selling
  • Understand the customer's existing guest room HVAC and controls environment.
  • Discuss guest room applications involving thermostats, FCUs, PTACs/PTHPs, occupancy detection, door contacts, sensors, and related control components.
  • Work with engineering teams and technical resources to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Review plans, specifications, equipment schedules, and project requirements where applicable.
  • Help customers understand opportunities to improve guest comfort, operational visibility, and energy performance.
  • Present solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support development of quotations, proposals, presentations, and project scopes.
  1. Project & Specification Development
  • Identify hotel projects during design, planning, renovation, and construction stages.
  • Develop relationships with consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, controls contractors, developers, and hotel design teams.
  • Track specifications and project opportunities through the sales cycle.
  • Help position appropriate guest room control solutions before purchasing decisions are finalized.
  • Follow projects from initial opportunity through specification, quotation, negotiation, purchase order, delivery, and implementation.
  1. Account Development
  • Build long-term relationships with hotel ownership and management organizations.
  • Identify opportunities across customers' property portfolios rather than focusing only on individual hotels.
  • Maintain regular contact with hotel engineering, purchasing, operations, development, and corporate teams.
  • Identify renovation cycles, equipment replacement requirements, sustainability initiatives, and capital-improvement projects that create opportunities for guest room controls.
  • Expand existing relationships into additional properties and projects.
  1. Hospitality Technology Cross-Selling
  • Identify opportunities for electronic hotel locks and access control alongside guest room controls projects.
  • Introduce Onity solutions when customers are planning lock replacements, renovations, new hotel construction, or technology upgrades.
  • Coordinate with Weston's technical and operations teams to deliver a consistent customer experience across product lines.

Who We're Looking For

We are intentionally looking beyond candidates with direct INNCOM experience.

A strong candidate may currently work for a:

  • Guest Room Management System (GRMS) company
  • Hotel room automation or smart-room technology provider
  • HVAC controls company
  • Building Automation System (BAS/BMS) provider
  • Controls contractor or systems integrator
  • HVAC equipment manufacturer or distributor
  • Hotel technology company
  • Energy management or energy-services company
  • Hospitality engineering or technology organization

You should be comfortable discussing technology with engineers and contractors while also being able to explain the commercial value to hotel owners, operators, and purchasing teams.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in technical sales, controls, HVAC, building automation, energy management, hospitality technology, or a related field.
  • Understanding of HVAC controls, thermostats, building controls, room automation, or related technologies.
  • Ability to develop new customer relationships and generate project opportunities.
  • Comfortable working with engineers, contractors, developers, hotel operators, and purchasing organizations.
  • Ability to understand technical requirements and translate them into customer solutions.
  • Strong prospecting, account-development, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities, quotations, and projects simultaneously.
  • Experience using CRM and maintaining an active sales pipeline.
  • Willingness to develop detailed product and application knowledge.

Experience That Will Set You Apart

Experience in any of the following areas would be particularly valuable:

Guest Room Controls / GRMS

  • Guest Room Management Systems
  • Smart-room controls
  • Hotel room automation
  • Guest room HVAC controls
  • Occupancy-based room controls

HVAC & Building Controls

  • HVAC controls
  • Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS)
  • DDC controls
  • Thermostats and sensors
  • Fan coil unit controls
  • PTAC/PTHP applications

  • Energy management systems

Hospitality

  • Hotel engineering
  • Hotel renovation projects
  • Hotel new construction
  • Hospitality technology
  • Hotel energy-management projects
  • Electronic hotel locks or access control

Experience with Honeywell INNCOM is highly desirable, but equivalent guest room controls, HVAC controls, BAS/BMS, GRMS, or hotel automation experience will also be considered.

What Success Looks Like

This role is ideal for someone who can:

  1. Find projects before they reach the purchasing stage.
  1. Talk controls with engineers, integrators, and contractors.
  1. Talk business with hotel owners and management companies.
  1. Understand how HVAC, occupancy, controls, and guest experience come together inside the hotel room.
  1. Develop relationships that generate opportunities across multiple properties.
  1. Build a healthy, qualified project pipeline rather than relying only on incoming leads.
  1. Learn Weston's product portfolio and become a trusted resource for hotel customers.
