Original job description

About Westonview Partners

Westonview was founded to bring institutional-quality M&A advisory and private equity expertise to founder-owned businesses in the lower mid-market. We advise business owners on sale transactions and strategic alternatives, and work with private equity and strategic buyers on sourcing and executing acquisitions.

Since launching, the firm has built a track record of completed transactions and established a strong pipeline of active M&A mandates across multiple industries.

Our ambition is to build a leading boutique M&A advisory firm, with exceptional talent at its core.

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional junior M&A role.

We're looking for a high-caliber Associate to join Westonview at an early stage, take on meaningful responsibility and help build the firm over the long term.

You'll step directly into an active pipeline of M&A transactions, working alongside the founder and engaging directly with business owners, private equity investors and strategic buyers.

What sets this opportunity apart:

  • Become a dealmaker earlier: Gain exposure to the full M&A lifecycle, including client discussions, valuation, buyer outreach, negotiations, diligence and closing, rather than being confined to a narrow workstream.
  • Participate in transaction upside: Earn a competitive base salary with meaningful additional upside linked to completed transactions and individual contribution.
  • Take ownership from day one: Work on live mandates with significant autonomy, direct access to decision-makers and responsibility for substantive transaction workstreams.
  • Help build a leading boutique: Join at an early stage and play a meaningful role in shaping the firm's growth, capabilities and culture.

This is a full-time, in-person position based in Yorkville, Toronto.

What You'll Do

Your primary focus will be M&A transaction execution, with additional involvement in business development and firm-building initiatives.

  • Analyze financial statements, normalize EBITDA and prepare valuations and financial models
  • Prepare high-quality CIMs, management presentations and other transaction materials
  • Develop buyer lists and evaluate strategic and financial acquirers
  • Coordinate buyer outreach, NDAs, data rooms and transaction workstreams
  • Analyze offers, transaction structures and key commercial terms
  • Coordinate due diligence and support negotiations through closing
  • Work directly with business owners, private equity investors and strategic buyers
  • Support new client pitches, business development and deal origination
  • Help improve the firm's processes, technology and use of AI

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking an exceptional early-career professional with 1-4 years of professional experience in investment banking, sell-side M&A advisory, transaction services / financial due diligence or private equity. Relevant experience in at least one of these areas is required. We place greater emphasis on the quality of your experience and capabilities than on tenure alone.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Strong financial analysis, accounting, valuation and financial modelling skills
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities, with a track record of producing polished, client-ready work
  • Experience supporting M&A transactions or financial due diligence engagements
  • Exceptional analytical judgment, attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Initiative, accountability and the ability to work independently
  • Confidence interacting with business owners and senior transaction professionals
  • Proficiency with AI tools and an interest in using technology to improve work quality and efficiency

CPA or CFA designation (or progress toward either) is an asset, but not required.

Who Will Thrive Here

We're looking for someone with a strong technical foundation who wants more than a traditional junior execution role.

You should be ambitious, intellectually curious and eager to take ownership. You'll thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, enjoy working directly with clients and want to develop the commercial judgment and relationship skills that distinguish great dealmakers.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to accelerate your development while helping build a leading lower-middle-market M&A advisory firm.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is designed to attract exceptional talent and reward meaningful contributions to transaction success.

  • Base salary: $100,000
  • Potential total cash compensation: $150,000–$200,000+, including variable transaction-linked incentives
  • Transaction-linked incentives: Uncapped incentive compensation providing additional upside based on transaction fees received by the firm and individual contribution
  • Benefits & Vacation: Company-funded Health Spending Account and three weeks of paid vacation

How to Apply

Please submit your resume through LinkedIn. We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
