Original job description

Reporting to the Materials Manager / Buyer this position is responsible for performing all of the tasks associated with ensuring stocked inventory and routine materials are available as needed by the Mill. The role also encompasses responsibilities pertaining to contractor services, accounts payable, storeroom reconciliations and reporting.

NOTE: In facilities where there is a smaller amount of staffing available to manage all of the work this role may also perform shipping/receiving tasks in addition to those noted below. Those additional responsibilities could include physical and/or electronic shipping and receiving of materials, operating materials handling equipment, performing service receipts, local pickups or deliveries, completing customs paperwork, etc.

DETAIL OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Purchases stock and non-stock goods which are contracted &/or sourced to maintain inventory levels and fill customer needs. This includes all items with part numbers and can include some that are text based

Confirms price from suppliers, issue Purchase Orders, coordinate transportation and expedites delivery for areas of responsibility.

Performs various AP related functions such as Web Cycles and IDR’s, matching Packing slips to invoices, etc.

Utilize procure to pay processes to improve efficiencies, i.e., PWR, ERS, Standing PO’s and P-cards

Maintains inventory control through periodic review of min/max levels, reorders rebuildable items, identifies, safely stores and barcode parts, reviews and orders bulk issue, monitors VMI and Vending Machines, identifies and addresses inventory reduction opportunities.

Performs day to day inventory transactions such as issues, returns, credits and reconciliations

Work with department leaders to ensure contractor services are properly received and tracked

Runs kitting and delivery pick lists, and runs associated reports

Conducts Inventory Cycle Counts and associated reconciliations

Educates Storeroom customers/contractors on storeroom processes

Completes all necessary month end reconciliations and reporting including accruals

Identifies and implements cost savings opportunities

Creates Material Masters and forwards to MM for sourcing and pricing

Work with maintenance on creation of BOM’s

Maintains a clean working environment in storerooms related areas

Main backup for Materials Manager

Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Grade 12 or equivalent.
2 years purchasing or storeroom experience.
Excellent computer skills, strong in Microsoft suite
Good oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work flexible hours that may include weekends and after hours as required.
Forklift ticket/experience

DESIRABLE

Diploma/Certificate through the SCMA, a Warehousing Technician or a Partsman Certificate
Solid financial skills or background
Accounting knowledge
SAP experience
Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Transportation of Dangerous Goods or WHMIS Training
Incoterms 2020 knowledge
