We have the following career opportunity in EDMONTON, ALBERTA:
This is an 18-month contract position.
Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Estimator builds and maintains strong relationships with existing customers in their assigned region. The role involves working closely with both internal and external customers, preparing and entering sales orders, and providing support with technical product information. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Builds strong, effective customer relationships with new, existing and potential customers by providing product solutions, responding to customer needs and requirements.
- Prepares accurate quotations/proposals based on quantity takeoffs and send them to contractors or engineers to provide them with bid pricing or budget proposals.
- Follows up on tender results and bid tracking of all opportunities.
- Compiles, verifies, records and processes forms and documents, in accordance with established procedures, guidelines and schedules.
- Sourcing opportunities identified through advertisements, internet searches, customer requests, phone calls, RFQ’s, etc.
- Conduct quantity takeoffs based on project documents (drawings, general conditions, special provisions, geotechnical reports).
- Makes consultative sales and marketing in-person and telephone calls on all Company accounts; including supportive and non-supportive customers, related to the industry. Builds the customer relationship by quickly establishing trust, credibility, integrity, and comfort; and by demonstrating dignity and respect. Positively relates to and responds to customer challenges and objections.
Education and Knowledge:
- Construction Engineering Technician or Civil Engineering Technologist education diploma.
- 1-3 years' experience in the drainage and/or road construction industry is a definite asset.
- Experience with estimating, bidding, quantity and material takeoffs.
- The ability to read and accurately interpret construction drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports and other tender documents.
- Advanced communication skills to convey technical information to internal departments, infrastructure owners, engineers and contractors.
- Computer literacy with MS Office (Word, Excel), MS Outlook, and MS PowerPoint.
- Strong attention-to-detail and accuracy skills for data entry and reporting purposes.
- Time and priority management skills for daily productivity purposes.
