Original job description

At Wills Transfer, technology plays a critical role in keeping our customers' supply chains moving. From the moment an order is received to the time a shipment leaves our warehouse and an invoice is generated, our systems connect the people, processes, and information that make it all happen.

We're looking for an IT Specialist – Supply Chain Systems & Integrations who enjoys solving problems, understanding how systems work together, and finding better ways to get things done.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a combination of technical expertise, supply chain knowledge, and a customer-focused mindset. You'll work closely with our warehouse operations, customer service, finance, and sales teams to support the systems that keep our business running.

If you're someone who enjoys digging into an issue, following it through to resolution, and continuously learning new technologies, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

Reporting to the Director of IT & Systems, you'll be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and continuously improving our supply chain business systems.

Systems Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide day-to-day technical support for business applications, including warehouse management (WMS), order management, transportation, billing, and reporting systems.
  • Investigate and resolve system issues, identifying root causes rather than simply addressing symptoms.
  • Manage support requests from employees and clients, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication.
  • Maintain system configurations, user access, and documentation.

Client Onboarding & System Configuration

  • Lead the technical setup of new clients, working closely with internal teams and customers to understand their requirements.
  • Configure system workflows, shipping rules, billing structures, and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate testing to ensure new clients are set up accurately and ready for successful launches.
  • Modify existing system configurations as customer needs and business processes evolve.

Systems Integration & Data Management

  • Monitor and troubleshoot data flowing between warehouse systems, customer platforms, shipping applications, and financial systems.
  • Investigate integration issues involving EDI, APIs, and other data interfaces.
  • Use SQL to investigate transactions, validate information, and support reporting.
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards that help teams make informed decisions.

Testing & Continuous Improvement

  • Test system changes, upgrades, and new functionality before implementation.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing with internal teams and clients.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes, improve data accuracy, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Participate in new technology implementations and develop expertise in emerging systems.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical problem-solving skills with a genuine understanding of how technology supports business operations.

Required Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience supporting warehouse management systems, logistics applications, business systems, data, or integrations, ideally within a 3PL, distribution, or supply chain environment.
  • Understanding of supply chain workflows, including receiving, inventory management, order processing, shipping, and billing.
  • Hands-on experience using SQL to investigate data, validate transactions, and generate reports.
  • Practical knowledge of EDI, APIs, JSON, and other system integration methods.
  • Experience testing system changes and supporting user acceptance testing.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly and work independently through unfamiliar technical challenges.

Postsecondary education in information systems, computer science, supply chain technology, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent demonstrated experience and capability will also be considered.

Additional Assets

  • Experience with Excalibur or another warehouse management system.
  • Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or NAV.
  • Power BI reporting and dashboard development.
  • Cleo EDI, transportation management systems, rate-shopping tools, or e-commerce integrations.
  • PowerShell, Python, Postman, or other automation and API testing tools.
  • Experience in regulated warehouse environments, including food or medical product storage.

What Will Make You Successful

At Wills Transfer, how we work is just as important as what we accomplish. We're looking for someone who demonstrates:

  • Problem Solving: You enjoy getting to the root of complex issues and finding practical solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: You understand that small data or configuration errors can have significant operational consequences.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration: You build strong relationships with technical and non-technical colleagues to solve problems together.
  • Respectful Communication: You can explain technical information clearly and provide a positive support experience.
  • Adaptability: You're comfortable learning unfamiliar systems and adjusting to changing business needs.
  • Continuous Improvement: You're always looking for opportunities to make systems, processes, and workflows more effective.
  • Integrity: You take ownership of your work, protect sensitive information, and follow through on commitments.
