Trauma-Informed Family Support Coordinator

Starting Wage: $28.74 per hour, in accordance with the applicable Collective Agreement

WIN House supports individuals and their children fleeing family and gender-based violence by providing safe temporary accommodation, crisis intervention, advocacy, resources, and trauma-informed programming. What We Do
WIN House provides crisis intervention, safe temporary accommodation, basic-needs support, advocacy, programming, information, referrals, and connections to community resources for individuals and children fleeing violence. Our services are trauma-informed, client-centred, culturally responsive, and increasingly aligned with a low-barrier model of care. We work collaboratively with individuals and families to promote safety, strengthen relationships, build resilience, and create opportunities for long-term stability and well-being.
What You’ll Do
- Provide trauma-informed, client-centred support to children and caregivers impacted by family violence.
- Complete family intakes and help identify immediate needs, strengths, risks, and longer-term goals.
- Support caregivers in establishing healthy routines, safety plans, and family-focused goals.
- Facilitate children's groups, parenting programs, healthy relationship programming, and recreational or therapeutic activities.
- Develop and deliver programming that supports attachment, resilience, healthy relationships, and family healing.
- Assist families with school registration, transportation, educational support, and community resources.
- Advocate alongside families and help connect them with parenting, cultural, educational, legal, health, and community supports.
- Collaborate closely with Crisis Intervention Workers and other shelter staff to coordinate family support and case planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely client documentation and participate in case management meetings.
- Contribute to a safe, welcoming, and supportive shelter environment.
What You Bring
- Degree or diploma in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or a related field.
- Minimum three years of experience working with children and families, including direct experience supporting children.
- Experience with trauma-informed care, family violence, gender-based violence, safety planning, and harm reduction.
- Experience facilitating groups, workshops, or family programming.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, organization, and case management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and emotionally complex environment.
- Knowledge of attachment, family systems, child development, culturally responsive practice, and client-centred service delivery.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence and ability to travel between WIN House locations as required.
Hours are primarily Monday to Friday, with some evening and weekend flexibility required to support programming and operational needs.
- The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Welfare Intervention Check, current First Aid certification, and sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
