Windsor Heart Institute

Location: Windsor, Ontario

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $60,000–$80,000 per year

Position Overview

Windsor Heart Institute is seeking a driven and relationship-focused Practice Development & Liaison to lead and support the organization’s growth initiatives.

This role will be responsible for developing new physician and referral relationships, growing external diagnostic volume, supporting physician recruitment and satellite expansion, improving referrer and patient experience, and helping identify new business and acquisition opportunities.

The successful candidate will work closely with WHI ownership, physicians, operations, and external partners and will be accountable for moving growth initiatives from opportunity through execution.

Core Accountabilities

Lead, manage, and be accountable for the growth function.
Grow revenue streams that are not dependent on WHI ownership.
Scale the internist diagnostic platform and physician-anchored satellite model.
Own and improve the referrer, associate physician, and patient experience.
Source and evaluate potential acquisitions and growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Growth Strategy & Business Development

Own the growth section of WHI’s V/TO and establish quarterly business development Rocks.
Maintain and report on a weekly business development scorecard, including:
New referrers
Referral volume
External diagnostic volume
New platform physicians
Business development pipeline stage
Track owner-dependence as a key growth metric and work toward reducing it below 60%.
Be responsible for growth and development of WHI’s external Holter program.

Internist Diagnostic Platform

Identify internists and community specialists who could refer or route Echo, Holter, ECG, and Nuclear Medicine services through WHI.
Present the WHI diagnostic platform, negotiate arrangements, and onboard new physician partners.
Replicate successful partnership models already established within WHI.
Manage physician partners following onboarding, including satisfaction, turnaround times, service quality, and retention.

Satellite Expansion

Identify FHO and FHT partners for physician-anchored satellite opportunities.
Support expansion using WHI’s existing LaSalle and Leamington models.
Coordinate new satellite launches with the Operations team.

Referring Physician Relationships

Map and monitor WHI’s referral base, including referral volumes, trends, and physicians whose referrals have declined.
Develop and maintain a structured physician outreach program, including regular visits and relationship touchpoints.
Identify and address barriers affecting referral relationships, including intake processes, wait times, report turnaround, and communication.
Track external diagnostic referrals, including Holter monitoring and other services.

Associate Physician Development

Build and maintain a recruitment pipeline for new cardiologists and nuclear-certified physicians/readers.
Monitor associate physician satisfaction and retention and identify risks early.
Maintain scheduled touchpoints with associate physicians.

Patient Experience & Reputation

Measure patient experience using tools such as surveys, NPS, access metrics, and complaint trends.
Work with Operations to identify and implement improvements.
Support and manage WHI’s reputation, including online reviews and patient-facing feedback.

Acquisitions

Build a target list of physician practices, diagnostic laboratories, and other potential acquisition opportunities.
Complete initial screening and preliminary valuation assessments.
Support due diligence in collaboration with ownership, legal, and finance.
Participate in and support integration planning following an acquisition.

Research & Pharmaceutical Partnerships

Develop relationships with CROs and pharmaceutical sponsors for potential clinical trial participation.
Support the development of research as an additional revenue stream for WHI.

External Representation

Represent Windsor Heart Institute with hospitals, Ontario Health West/Ontario Health, physician groups, and community organizations.
Attend relevant community and professional events.
Oversee and support marketing initiatives directed toward physicians and patients.

Qualifications

Experience in business development, healthcare, physician relations, medical sales, practice development, or a related field.
Strong relationship-building, networking, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities and move initiatives from initial contact through implementation.
Strong business judgment and comfort working with physicians, senior leadership, and external partners.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, relationships, and active business development opportunities at the same time.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to track referral trends, growth metrics, and business development activity.
Experience within healthcare, medical diagnostics, physician recruitment, or specialist medical practices is an asset.
Experience with acquisitions, valuations, due diligence, or healthcare partnerships is an asset.
Ability to travel locally and regionally as required.

Compensation

$60,000–$80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
