If you believe in our city, have a passion for people and process, and are interested in helping our organization operate at its best, consider joining our dynamic and growing team!

POSITION SUMMARY

The Corporate Communications Specialist plays a key role in supporting Winnipeg Economic Development & Tourism’s strategic communications. You’ll help shape and share the organization’s story through compelling, high-quality content that communicates our value, impact and initiatives to key audiences - including board members, staff, government shareholders, corporate partners and the local business community.

You’ll collaborate with teams across the organization - such as Business Development, Talent & Workforce Development, Foreign Direct Investment, Tourism, Marketing, Corporate Services and Market Intelligence - to plan, create and refine content that supports organizational priorities. This includes everything from corporate reports and executive presentations to internal updates and thought leadership.

This is a hands-on, strategic role for a communicator who thrives in a collaborative environment, balancing creativity with precision and the ability to meet tight deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS

Strategic communications
  • Support the development and implementation of the corporate communications annual plan and strategy.
  • Provide strategic input on messaging for internal and external communications, including board and executive materials, working directly with the executive team to gather information, develop key messages and prepare briefing notes and other communications materials.
  • Draft executive-facing communications such as speaking notes and government correspondence.
  • Manage content planning, editing and tone refinement for cross-departmental projects including letters of support, corporate reporting, award submissions and government-facing materials.
Content creation & editing
  • Create and edit a wide range of materials: reports, speeches, blogs, stakeholder emails, internal updates and digital content.
  • Support economic reconciliation through corporate communications materials and events, collaborating with Indigenous communications advisors as needed.
  • Review and edit the Economic Digest for accessibility across distribution channels.
  • Ensure all content aligns with corporate brand tone, voice and guidelines.
Digital communications
  • Develop and publish content for Winnipeg Economic Development & Tourism’s blog and social media channels.
  • Set up and distribute email communications using Pardot, including formatting, list targeting and scheduling.
  • Maintain and update corporate web pages content to ensure accuracy, SEO alignment and brand consistency.
  • Monitor content performance and recommend strategies to enhance engagement.
Platform & systems leadership
  • Serve as an internal resource and “power user” for communications platforms, including:

Pardot – email campaign building and deployment

Beautiful.ai – presentation formatting for executive and board materials

Cross-functional collaboration
  • Coordinate structured workback schedules and internal feedback loops for communications deliverables.
  • Provide editorial and messaging support to teams across the organization.
  • Collaborate with Market Intelligence to ensure storytelling reflects accurate data insights.
  • Support corporate initiatives with clear, timely communications.
  • Navigate sensitive communications with professionalism and discretion.
Other Duties
  • Perform other communications-related duties as assigned in support of Winnipeg Economic Development & Tourism’s organizational goals.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, media relations or public affairs.
  • Proven ability to write for executive audiences and manage high-visibility communications.
  • Strong editorial, project management and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).
  • Preferred: experience with Pardot, Beautiful.ai, Monday.com and SharePoint.
