Help Us Build a Better Future

Join a mission-driven organization dedicated to creating safe, affordable, and sustainable housing for individuals, families, and communities. We believe housing is more than a place to live - it is the foundation of dignity, stability, opportunity, and belonging.

We welcome applicants with relevant experience, a willingness to learn, a collaborative approach, and a strong commitment to our values. If meaningful work and the opportunity to expand affordable housing inspire you, we encourage you to apply.

Working with the Director, the Assistant Project Manager (APM) will support new affordable housing developments, major building retrofits, and renovations through all project stages - from initial concepts and planning to approvals, construction, and completion. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate project records, schedules, documentation, and tracking systems; preparing project proposals and funding applications; researching and coordinating zoning, development applications, and other regulatory requirements; engaging communities and building support; reviewing construction-site progress; and liaising with consultants, architects, engineers, planners, contractors, government representatives, and other partners. The successful candidate will help ensure that project deliverables, reports, and funding obligations are completed accurately, accountably, and on time.

What We’re Looking For

The successful candidate will have post-secondary education and a combination of academic, technical, and practical knowledge relevant to the role. They will also be comfortable working collaboratively in an environment where priorities evolve and problem-solving is essential.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

· Knowledge of construction methods and building codes for small residential and multi-family commercial projects

· Relevant experience in project coordination, construction, property development, building renovation, facilities, or a related field

· Understanding of affordable housing development, municipal planning, zoning, permitting, and regulatory approvals

· Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook; experience with Microsoft Project, Planner, or AutoCAD is an asset

· Ability to read and interpret building plans

· Strong organizational, time-management, and verbal and written communication skills

· Experience in research, report writing, scheduling, and tracking and updating project budgets, supported by strong Excel skills

· Experience managing records for project deliverables and reporting submissions that support transparency and accountability

· Ability to manage multiple reporting schedules, maintain accurate documentation, and communicate effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders

· Knowledge of energy efficiency, sustainable development, and government housing grants and incentive programs is an asset

The successful candidate must have a valid driver’s licence, access to a reliable vehicle, and the physical ability to visit construction sites for progress reviews and oversight of work in progress. The role follows a hybrid model combining in-office and remote work.

Applicants should email a cover letter explaining their interest in joining our team and a résumé to careers@whrc.ca, using Assistant Project Manager as the subject line.

We thank all applicants; however, only those selected for further consideration will be contacted.
