About The Role
The Business Information Management Specialist IV / Data Analyst is a pivotal role within a project-based team supporting sophisticated data initiatives. Located in Toronto, ON, this hybrid role requires working onsite four days a week, with a schedule from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The position involves translating complex business requirements into practical data solutions, validating data integrity, and investigating intricate data issues within the financial services environment. The successful candidate will utilize advanced SQL and Python skills to analyze enterprise datasets, support large-scale data projects, and ensure the successful delivery of data initiatives related to Treasury investments, hedging portfolios, and financial products. This role provides an excellent opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to enterprise data management strategies, and support innovative financial data solutions.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in data analysis, data management, or related disciplines
- Extensive experience with advanced SQL for data profiling, reconciliation, validation, and complex investigations
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis and validation tasks
- Solid background in banking or financial services data initiatives
- Deep understanding of banking products and Treasury domains, including investment products and hedging portfolios
- Experience with enterprise data management concepts such as data onboarding, integration, source-to-target mapping, and data quality assurance
- Proven track record in project testing, including test planning, case design, defect management, and regression testing
- Ability to translate business requirements into effective data solutions
- Strong communication skills and stakeholder management abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Responsibilities
- Facilitate review and clarification of business and data requirements with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment
- Translate business needs into practical, measurable data solutions and outcomes
- Perform advanced data analysis, profiling, reconciliation, validation, and investigation using SQL and Python
- Analyze enterprise datasets across sourcing, onboarding, integration, lineage, and mapping processes
- Validate data transformation rules, mapping, controls, and reconciliation results to ensure accuracy
- Investigate data quality issues, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with technology teams to resolve defects
- Support and maintain modern cloud-based data platforms, including Databricks environments, ensuring data integrity and flow
- Develop and execute disciplined testing practices for large-scale data initiatives, including test plans, cases, and validation activities
- Coordinate test execution, manage defect triage, and oversee regression testing processes
- Ensure requirements are properly implemented, tested, validated, and delivered within project timelines
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are met and data solutions are aligned with business objectives
- Identify data and process issues, communicate findings effectively to stakeholders, and recommend improvements
- Support Treasury and financial product data initiatives involving investment and hedging portfolios
