Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced PowerBuilder Developer to support application enhancement, development, maintenance, and production support initiatives within an enterprise environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and enhancing new and existing applications, while working closely with architects, business stakeholders, and technical teams to deliver effective solutions. The role will involve analyzing service requests, defining development requirements, developing application code and technical interfaces, integrating third-party tools and applications, participating in design and code reviews, supporting system and integration testing, analyzing data integrity issues, and resolving application and production-related problems. The resource will also be responsible for documenting application code and system configurations, preparing technical and operational documentation, supporting deployment and transition activities, and implementing application enhancements and maintenance processes. The ideal candidate will have strong PowerBuilder, Microsoft SQL Server, relational database, stored procedure, legacy application, client-server, and enterprise application development experience, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. Experience with PowerBuilder migration, Sybase-to-SQL Server conversion, .NET, Power BI, Azure, web technologies, Agile/SDLC, and additional programming languages will be considered an asset. The position is primarily onsite in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with remote work subject to approval.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of PowerBuilder development experience
- Minimum 6+ years of application development, enhancement, maintenance, and production support
- Minimum 3+ years of relational database design, development, analysis, and stored procedures
- Minimum 2+ years of legacy application maintenance and enhancement
- Strong Microsoft SQL Server experience, including database creation and administration
- Experience with version control systems, such as Team Foundation Server (TFS)
- Strong knowledge of data processing and n-tier technology platforms
- Experience with enterprise application development
- Understanding of systems networking, information security, relational databases, and web services
- Experience developing and implementing technical standards, procedures, and operational guidelines
- Experience with application architecture, development, testing, integration, and support
- Strong SQL development and database skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and listening skills
- Ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment
- Ability to work with sensitive data while maintaining security and confidentiality
- Experience with client-server business application development
- Experience with PowerBuilder/MSSQL application enhancements, interfaces, and file transfers
- Familiarity with PowerBuilder application migration
- Understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies
- Experience with object-oriented development/design and design patterns
