Purpose

Worley is seeking an Mechanical Engineer to join our Nuclear team in Markham, Ontario.

In this role, you will contribute to the design, modification, and delivery of mechanical systems for complex nuclear projects. Working under the direction of a Design Team Lead, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and customers while upholding Worley’s standards for safety, quality, and technical excellence.

Responsibilities

Perform mechanical design and engineering activities for nuclear projects in accordance with applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and project procedures.
Prepare, review, and contribute to engineering deliverables, including design packages, technical specifications, calculations, assessments, reports, drawings, and supporting documentation.
Support modifications and upgrades to existing nuclear facilities, including equipment selection, system integration, design verification, and resolution of technical issues.
Complete engineering calculations and analyses to validate designs, confirm performance requirements, and support technically sound decisions.
Apply mechanical engineering knowledge to equipment and systems such as pumps, compressors, pressure vessels, storage tanks, heat exchangers, HVAC, fire protection, and piping systems.
Interpret and apply applicable requirements, including CSA N299, CSA N285, and ASME Section III, within mechanical engineering activities.
Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, risk assessments, and interdisciplinary technical discussions.
Collaborate with engineering, project management, procurement, quality, construction, and other disciplines to support safe and coordinated project delivery.
Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, commissioning, and field implementation.
Identify technical risks, constraints, and opportunities, and work with the project team to develop practical and compliant solutions.
Communicate technical information clearly through written documentation, presentations, design discussions, and interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
Take ownership of assigned deliverables by managing priorities, following through on commitments, and escalating issues when appropriate.
Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive team environment by sharing knowledge, seeking input, and supporting the development of others.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to nuclear safety, quality assurance, procedural compliance, and continuous improvement.

What You Will Bring

Technical and Industry Experience:

Relevant mechanical engineering experience gained within nuclear power, another highly regulated industry, or complex industrial projects.
Experience contributing to the design, modification, assessment, or implementation of mechanical systems and equipment.
Working knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems such as pumps, compressors, pressure vessels, storage tanks, heat exchangers, HVAC, fire protection, and piping.
The ability to interpret and apply engineering codes and standards. Experience with CSA N299, CSA N285, and ASME Section III is particularly valuable.
An understanding of nuclear safety principles, quality assurance requirements, configuration control, and the importance of producing complete and traceable engineering documentation.
Proficiency with relevant engineering design, modelling, calculation, or analysis tools.
The ability to analyze technical information, identify the underlying issue, evaluate alternatives, and develop practical engineering solutions.
Sound engineering judgment, with the confidence to ask questions, challenge assumptions constructively, and seek guidance when risks or requirements are unclear.
Strong attention to detail and a consistent approach to checking your work, maintaining accurate documentation, and meeting technical and quality requirements.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to different audiences.
A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, customers, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
Adaptability when working with changing priorities, evolving project requirements, and technical challenges.
Personal accountability for commitments, deliverable quality, schedule, and follow-through.
A genuine interest in contributing to the safe and reliable operation of nuclear facilities and supporting the future of the nuclear energy industry.
Motivation to continue developing your technical capability, learn from experienced professionals, and take on increasing responsibility as your experience grows.
Demonstrated achievements that show your ability to deliver quality engineering work. Examples may include successfully completing design packages, resolving complex technical issues, supporting facility modifications, improving an engineering process, contributing to safe field implementation, or receiving positive recognition for technical quality and collaboration.
Previous experience supporting major nuclear utilities or nuclear generating facilities in Ontario is considered an asset.

Required

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
Registration as a Professional Engineer, or eligibility for registration, with Professional Engineers Ontario.
An existing nuclear-site security clearance is considered an asset. Candidates without an active clearance must be eligible to obtain and maintain the security clearance and site-access authorization required for the position.
Additional education, certifications, or training in nuclear engineering, mechanical design, quality assurance, or related areas are considered assets.

For applicants based in the province of Ontario, the salary range is $102,268 to $120,316 CAD.
