Starlight Investments, in conjunction with WP Osborne Executive Search, is seeking a Manager, Finance, to join its Portfolio Finance team.
The Opportunity
Manager, Finance
The Manager will oversee accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of real estate investment funds. The role will act as a key business partner to the asset management and investments teams to help provide insightful, timely and accurate financial and operational information to assist with optimizing decisions surrounding the operation of the properties, in order to maximize returns for investors.

Key Responsibilities:
Investor Reporting and Financial Reporting
- Oversee of quarterly investor reporting materials, as well as the preparation financial statements, including note disclosures, in accordance with ASPE or IFRS.
Financial Accounting
- Oversee the accuracy and integrity of general ledgers for fund properties and corporate entities, including supporting documentation and reporting disclosures.
- Own the first draft of the monthly close, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and completeness.
- Oversee the audit process for funds and support quarterly and year-end reviews.
- Prepare working papers and supporting documentation for audits, reviews and tax return preparation.
Financial Analysis
- Review and analyse monthly fund reporting, identifying key variances and ensuring commentary accurately reflects underlying performance.
- Ensure portfolio reporting systems and outputs are accurate and complete, partnering with other departments to resolve data issues.
- Lead initiatives that translate financial insights into operational improvements through technology and process optimisation.
- Support the preparation and review of property and fund budget inputs and outputs.
Coaching and Mentorship
- Manage, mentor and develop members of the Finance team through coaching, performance feedback and professional development opportunities.
AI and Technology Adoption
- Act as a role model for the adoption of AI and automation across the team, and identify, test and implement AI-enabled process improvements.
- Apply approved AI tools to improve the efficiency and quality of accounting, analysis and reporting workflows.
- Apply professional judgement to validate AI-assisted outputs and safeguard accuracy, data integrity and compliance.
Transaction support (Acquisitions, Dispositions, Financing, etc.)
- Lead the financial aspects of property acquisitions, dispositions and financing activities, and any other business transactions.
Cash and Debt Management
- Oversee cash management, including review and sign-off of cash position reporting and forecasting prepared by the Treasury team.
- Oversee partnership debt portfolios, ensuring compliance with loan provisions and accurate, timely and complete covenant reporting, and escalate risks as required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have 2–4 years of accounting, financial reporting or audit experience, a relevant degree and CPA, CFA or MBA (or nearing completion). Strong IFRS/ASPE, Excel and financial reporting skills are required, along with strong communication, organisational and leadership skills. Experience with Yardi, Power BI, Workiva and AI/technology is an asset.

The compensation structure is comprised of a base salary that is market competitive and based on factors such as experience, education, designations, and skillset.
