We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead engineering coordination and technical oversight for major industrial projects.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring engineering activities are effectively planned, coordinated, and executed while supporting project and construction teams through all phases of project delivery.
Position Summary
The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing engineering execution, technical governance, design coordination, and multidisciplinary engineering support for project activities. The role provides leadership to engineering personnel, manages technical interfaces between stakeholders, and ensures compliance with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
The successful candidate will act as the primary engineering authority on the project, driving technical excellence, design integrity, and efficient issue resolution to support safe and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all project engineering activities across multiple disciplines.
- Manage engineering resources, priorities, schedules, and deliverables.
- Ensure engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards, permits, and client requirements.
- Review and approve technical documentation, drawings, calculations, specifications, and engineering deliverables.
- Coordinate technical interfaces between clients, contractors, vendors, construction teams, and stakeholders.
- Lead engineering reviews, risk assessments, and constructability evaluations.
- Manage design changes and technical queries throughout project execution.
- Facilitate timely resolution of engineering issues affecting project progress.
- Support procurement by reviewing technical bid evaluations, vendor submissions, and equipment specifications.
- Monitor engineering progress against project schedules and budgets.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks that could impact project objectives.
- Develop and implement engineering management plans, procedures, and quality requirements.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to engineers and technical specialists.
- Participate in project meetings and provide engineering status updates to senior management and clients.
- Ensure all engineering records and documentation are properly maintained and controlled.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia or eligibility to obtain registration.
- Minimum 10 years of engineering experience within industrial, energy, mining, infrastructure, manufacturing, or major capital projects.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering leadership or management role.
- Strong understanding of engineering design processes, technical standards, and project execution methodologies.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent technical problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
- Experience on large-scale industrial or capital projects.
- Familiarity with CSA, ASME, API, IEC, IEEE, and applicable Canadian regulatory requirements.
- Experience working in EPC, EPCM, owner-representative, or contractor environments.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation considered an asset.
