Join WSP as a Commercial Manager and help enable the successful delivery of projects across our business. In this role, you'll be a trusted partner to Project Managers, Project Controls, Finance, Legal, and commercial leaders, helping ensure contracts, governance processes, project controls, and commercial records are managed efficiently and effectively throughout the project lifecycle.
You'll play a key role in supporting informed decision-making, managing risk, improving commercial processes, and driving consistency across a diverse portfolio of projects. This is an opportunity to contribute to some of Canada's most impactful infrastructure, environmental, and advisory projects while continuing to develop your commercial expertise within a collaborative and growth-focused environment.
Your Impact
- Coordinate the intake, triage, tracking, review, approval, and execution of commercial agreements while maintaining service-level expectations and escalating bottlenecks as required.
- Support contract administration activities by preparing standard agreements, amendments, internal consulting agreements, and subconsultant documentation using approved templates.
- Facilitate bid/no-bid and proposal governance processes by consolidating risk information, coordinating approvals, and supporting partner and subconsultant due diligence activities.
- Maintain accurate and controlled commercial documentation, including contracts, approvals, risk registers, insurance records, change logs, and project close-out documentation.
- Support project setup activities by coordinating as-sold budgets, work breakdown structures, and project controls information while ensuring data quality and completeness.
- Prepare portfolio reporting and dashboards related to backlog, pipeline, contract status, invoicing, receivables, changes, risks, approvals, and project performance indicators.
- Administer change management processes by tracking potential changes, coordinating supporting documentation, and escalating material commercial matters in collaboration with Project Managers.
- Support risk management, claims preparation, dispute documentation, project close-out activities, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen commercial operations across WSP.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business, Finance, Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Approximately 5-7 years of experience in commercial coordination, contract administration, project controls, project coordination, finance, or a related commercial function; consulting engineering experience is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of project lifecycles, contract administration principles, commercial governance processes, and construction-related terminology.
- Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet competing deadlines, and maintain a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint; experience with Oracle or comparable ERP systems is an asset.
- Ability to analyze project and commercial data, identify emerging issues, prepare concise reporting, and escalate risks appropriately.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across technical, financial, legal, and operational teams.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain the personnel security status required for assigned Government of Canada projects, including Reliability Status under the Contract Security Program where applicable.
