Ready to take on complex and rewarding environmental challenges? At WSP, you’ll work alongside a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team and contribute to high‑profile remediation projects across Canada.

WSP’s Remediation Program Management (RPM) team is one of the most established in the country, with over 15 years of experience delivering contaminated site program management services to technically focused clients. Our team of environmental technicians, scientists, project managers, and technical experts specializes in health and safety, Phase I and II ESAs, risk assessment, and remediation. With a consistent 9–12‑month project backlog, we offer stability, variety, and strong growth opportunities. Our projects span coast to coast to coast and range widely in size and complexity, requiring efficient field execution and close collaboration.

WSP is currently seeking an Intermediate Environmental Scientist or Technician to join our rapidly growing Remediation Program Management group in Edmonton, Alberta. The role will work closely with our team of environmental professionals and will be integral in providing support for our ongoing environmental projects including environmental monitoring, assessment, remediation and reclamation projects. The position involves working in a close-knit team of dedicated professionals and you will be responsible for planning and carrying out field assessment and data collection exercises and presenting your findings in reports. This role will focus primarily on our upstream oil and gas portfolio.

Your Impact

You will assist with planning and executing environmental site assessments, detailed site assessments, remediation, and reclamation;
You will lead field assignments and collaborate with project technicians, scientists, contractors and other field personnel to complete on-site environmental project tasks;
You will train and mentor junior staff;
You will be involved in collection and documentation of pertinent soil and groundwater field data according to industry standards and WSP protocols and procedures;
You will communicate with clients, service companies, laboratories, and partners regarding project tasks;
You will assist with the preparation of technical reports;
You will ensure implementation of corporate and client safety programs on all projects.

The Skills That Set You Apart

University degree or technical diploma in environmental science, engineering or related discipline;
Three or more years experience with upstream oil and gas assessment and remediation;
Understanding of current provincial and federal regulatory remediation guidelines and directives;
Strong soil characterization and vegetation identification skills;
Pro-active problem solving and strong communication skills;
Excellent reporting and interpersonal skills;
Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions;
Physically capable of performing the required tasks, positive attitude, and strong team spirit;
Ability and willingness to travel for field work.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YK: $60,100 – $79,600

MB & ON: $54,800 – $75,400

NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $54,200 – $72,000

Responsibilities
