Shape the future of Alberta’s energy systems with WSP’s Distribution team in Airdrie. As part of the Power Delivery subsector, our Distribution group leads the design of medium voltage overhead and underground power lines and the facilities that support them. This role gives you hands‑on exposure to real power delivery challenges and the chance to contribute to projects that keep communities connected and energized.
You’ll take on meaningful work across the province, applying your technical skills to power distribution projects that directly influence how energy is delivered and maintained. You’ll collaborate with a supportive team of engineers, designers, project managers, and utility stakeholders while gaining the coaching, mentorship, and training needed to grow your expertise and advance your career.
From supporting new customer connections to helping modernize critical electrical infrastructure, you’ll play a direct role in delivering reliable power solutions that support communities, businesses, and future growth across Alberta. This is an opportunity to build practical technical experience while contributing to projects with lasting impact.
Your Impact
- Support the delivery of overhead and underground power distribution projects, including new service installations and upgrades to existing electrical infrastructure.
- Coordinate closely with clients, project managers, engineers, and designers to help ensure successful project execution and delivery.
- Apply engineering calculations and technical knowledge to develop design and construction packages for electrical distribution systems.
- Perform quality reviews of drawings, calculations, and other design deliverables to ensure compliance with applicable standards and project requirements.
- Design and analyze overhead and underground distribution systems using industry software, engineering principles, and utility best practices.
- Participate in site visits and construction support activities, helping ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and effectively.
- Identify opportunities to improve design quality, efficiency, consistency, and knowledge sharing across the Distribution team.
- Deliver high‑quality work while contributing to the development of critical energy infrastructure that keeps Alberta’s communities connected and powered.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Eligibility for registration, or current registration, with ASET.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in power distribution design, consulting engineering, electric utilities, or related infrastructure sectors.
- Experience preparing engineering designs, drafting packages, or technical deliverables within civil or electrical engineering environments.
- Familiarity with utility standards, CSA requirements, and powerline construction practices.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, time‑management, and problem‑solving abilities, with a proactive approach to learning and professional growth. French language skills are considered an asset.

Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $57,500 - $76,200
MB & ON: $52,500 - $72,300
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $52,000 - $69,000
