Lead the growth of one of Canada’s most critical infrastructure sectors. As Project Director – Hydropower and Dams (Western Canada), you will play a pivotal role in shaping strategy, strengthening client partnerships, and delivering impactful projects that support resilient, sustainable energy systems across Western Canada.

This is a high-impact leadership role where your expertise fuels business growth, guides complex project delivery, and contributes to a national vision for the future of hydropower and dam infrastructure.

This position will, ideally, be based out of one of our Western offices, ideally, Calgary or Vancouver.

Your Impact

Be the Project Director on infrastructure dams and hydropower projects
Mentor Project Managers
Establish project vision, objectives, execution strategies, and success criteria.
Ensure effective coordination among engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, and stakeholder teams.
Act as the senior point of contact for clients and key stakeholders.
Build and maintain client relationship at the project level
Identify opportunities for additional services and strategic growth.
Manage high-level commercial and contractual discussions.
Be accountable for project profitability, revenue, cash flow, and financial performance.
Approve significant project expenditures and change orders.
Ensure effective risk and opportunity management.
Oversee winning pursuit strategies, proposals, and client presentations across multidisciplinary teams
Foster a strong team culture by promoting engagement, collaboration, and professional development

The Skills That Set You Apart

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
At least 20 years of strong project management/project direction with strong experience in hydropower or dams
Registered, or eligible for registration, as a P.Eng. in at least one province in Western Canada desired
Established network and relationships with power utilities and dam owners in Western Canada
Proven ability to lead client engagement and develop long-term partnerships
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to travel within Western Canada (10–20%)

Compensation:

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $177,000 – $234,400

MB & ON: $161,500 – $222,300

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $159,900 – $212,300

Responsibilities

Direct complex hydropower and dam infrastructure projects, setting project objectives and execution strategies while coordinating multidisciplinary teams and serving as the senior client contact. Lead business growth and client partnerships, oversee project financial performance and risk, guide proposals and pursuits, and mentor project managers and team members.

Requirements

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and at least 20 years of project management or project direction experience, including strong hydropower or dam experience. Candidates should be registered or eligible for registration as a P.Eng. in a Western Canadian province, have established relationships with regional utilities and dam owners, and be able to travel within Western Canada 10–20%.
