You will help design, optimize, and advance solar projects that are transforming Canada’s energy landscape. In this role, you will collaborate with passionate experts and contribute to innovative projects that create real impact in our communities. As a
Solar PV Engineer with us, you will be part of our national
renewable energy team, leveraging your skills in the design and optimization of
utility-scale solar project systems across Canada. You’ll collaborate with experienced professionals from multiple engineering disciplines, support projects from early-stage development through detailed design and construction, and help deliver practical, high-performing renewable energy solutions for our clients.

This position can be located out of
any of our Canadian WSP Offices - ideally, Ontario or Quebec.
Your Impact
- Design and optimize utility-scale solar PV projects across Canada.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, constructible solutions.
- Develop and optimize solar layouts, equipment configurations, and design parameters.
- Support projects from feasibility and development through design, construction, commissioning, and operations.
- Evaluate PV modules, inverters, racking systems, and other equipment.
- Analyze geospatial and project data and prepare deliverables using AutoCAD and GIS tools.
- Support energy-yield assessments and interpret modelling results and performance drivers.
- Contribute to technical due diligence and independent engineering reviews.
- Review calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and third-party deliverables.
- Present technical findings and recommendations clearly to clients and project teams.
- Improve solar design workflows, modelling methods, tools, and services.
- Collaborate with renewable energy experts across Canada and take on increasingly complex assignments.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- University Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Energy or other relevant engineering discipline.
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in solar energy, power generation, engineering consulting, or a closely related field. Utility-scale projects experience expected.
- P.ENG licensed or in final stages (within a year).
- Experience supporting the design, optimization, energy assessment, or technical review of solar PV projects.
- An understanding of utility-scale solar technologies and the interaction between layouts, equipment selection, site conditions, constructability, and energy performance.
- A practical, analytical, and collaborative approach to solving engineering problems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to clients and multidisciplinary teams.
- The ability to organize priorities and contribute effectively to multiple projects in a consulting environment.
- Eligibility for registration as a professional engineer in Canada, or progress toward registration, is preferred.
- Experience with solar modelling software such as PVsyst, HelioScope, or SAM is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD a must.
- Experience in Civil 3D, GIS tools, or solar-layout optimization software is considered an asset.

Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YK: $89,800 to $118,900
MB & ON: $81,900 to $112,800
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $81,100 to $107.700
