In this role, you’ll contribute to the development of electrical systems for transit, fleet and related infrastructure projects, with a focus on low- and medium-voltage distribution, EV charging, solar PV integration, communications and sustainability-driven design. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you’ll translate conceptual designs into coordinated drawings, specifications and cost estimates that help move projects from preliminary studies through detailed engineering.
Your Impact
- Develop electrical designs from preliminary studies through detailed engineering, contributing to practical and coordinated project solutions.
- Prepare CAD and Revit drawings, including site plans, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, communication diagrams, equipment layouts and material takeoffs.
- Apply low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution, control and protection principles to the development of electrical infrastructure designs.
- Prepare electrical equipment and installation specifications under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
- Develop AACE Class 1 through Class 5 cost estimates across multiple disciplines, collaborating with technical specialists as required.
- Conduct site electrical evaluations, analyses and system studies to support design development and project requirements.
- Prepare and analyze bids and tender documents, supporting well-defined scopes and informed procurement decisions.
- Deliver high-quality work within established project schedules while representing WSP professionally with clients and project stakeholders.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- A diploma as an Engineering Technologist, a relevant trade certification, or an equivalent qualification.
- 3+ years of relevant electrical design and drafting experience.
- 3+ years of cost-estimating experience, with demonstrated experience preparing accurate project estimates.
- Strong knowledge of 600 V and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems, including design and operation.
- Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable local requirements.
- Experience using CAD and/or Revit to develop electrical design documentation.
- Professional proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly with project teams and clients.
