With an unmatched breadth and depth of engineering, advisory and science‑based expertise, our global minds unite to power local solutions.
We are pathfinders and impact makers.
We are Visioneers.

We are WSP.

The Opportunity

WSP is looking for a strategic, entrepreneurial and people-focused leader to shape the next chapter of our Ground Engineering & Materials business across British Columbia (BC) and Yukon.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Earth & Environment, BC & Yukon, the Vice President will lead a diverse regional business spanning geotechnical engineering, materials engineering, laboratory services, field services and construction materials. The role carries accountability for the growth, performance, technical excellence and long-term health of the business.

This is an opportunity to bring a fresh vision and direction to an established business with significant potential. Working with an experienced team, you will strengthen the core business while diversifying our clients, markets and services, pursuing new opportunities and building stronger connections across WSP.

We are looking for a leader who can see what is possible, bring people together around a clear direction and turn that vision into action. You will create an environment where people feel connected, supported and empowered to do their best work, while setting clear expectations and building a culture of accountability, collaboration and technical excellence.

Safety will be central to how you lead. You will champion a culture where people actively look out for one another and share a common commitment to ensuring everyone returns home safe at the end of each day.

As a key member of the BC & Yukon leadership team, you will shape regional strategy, drive operational performance, build stronger connections across WSP and position Ground Engineering & Materials as a trusted partner in solving our clients’ increasingly complex geotechnical engineering challenges.

This is more than an opportunity to manage an established business. It is an opportunity to take a strong team to the next level and help define what comes next.

Your Impact

  • Set a clear and compelling vision for the BC & Yukon business, translating regional and national priorities into a focused strategy that drives performance, growth, and long-term success.
  • Build on the strength of an established business by bringing fresh perspectives, strategic thinking, and new ideas to support continued growth and diversification.
  • Identify emerging trends, evolving client needs, and new opportunities across markets, sectors, services, geographies, and client relationships.
  • Develop and execute growth strategies that strengthen WSP’s presence and influence across BC & Yukon, fostering a curious, innovative, and client-focused culture.
  • Lead financial and operational performance, including budgeting, revenue growth, profitability, utilization, forecasting, resource planning, and workforce deployment.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators that drive accountability, operational excellence, and informed decision-making.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality, technical, commercial, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide oversight of business risk and commercial performance, while serving as executive sponsor for strategic initiatives, projects, and key client opportunities.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, technical excellence, and professional growth.
  • Support recruitment, retention, succession planning, and the development of future leaders while promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams and regions.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, industry associations, regulatory agencies, Indigenous communities, and other key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate visible leadership in health, safety, environment, quality, and integrity, embedding these principles throughout the business and promoting proactive risk management and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the overall direction and success of the BC & Yukon Earth & Environment business as a member of the regional leadership team.

The Skills that Set You Apart

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geoscience, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or equivalent professional registration.
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience within geotechnical engineering, materials engineering, construction services, consulting, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to lead and grow complex engineering, construction services, consulting, or related businesses, balancing strategic growth, operational performance, client service, and people leadership.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and operational performance.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to unite technical, operational and commercial perspectives around a shared direction.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into measurable results.
  • Experience working with Indigenous Nations, communities, and consultation processes is considered an asset.
  • Established reputation within the BC and Yukon engineering and consulting market.
  • A collaborative leadership style that inspires trust, accountability, and engagement.
  • Passion for developing people and building future leaders.
