About XA
XA Security is one of Western Canada's leading event security and crowd management companies. We work the biggest events in the province, including festivals, stadium shows and the Calgary Stampede, along with year-round static, mobile and parking operations. Our workforce is several hundred strong and grows past 700 in the busy season.
We also built our own operations platform. Digital XA runs our scheduling, timekeeping, payroll, invoicing and client work, so when we say we can staff something, we can show you how.
The role
We have more good work in front of us than we can currently put on a calendar. Our sales leadership is strong at closing, but the front of the funnel depends on getting in the room with the right people, often and early. That is the job.
You'll own the opportunity calendar. That means booking and running meetings with event promoters, venue operators, sports and entertainment teams, municipalities, developers and property owners across Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. You'll find the people who buy security and crowd management, get the first meeting, and hand a qualified opportunity to the team that writes the proposal.
This is a builder role. There's no playbook to inherit. You'll set up how we find, track and qualify opportunities, and you'll work directly with operations so we never promise work we can't staff.
What you'll do
- Build and fill the opportunity calendar with meetings across Western Canada, in person wherever the travel makes sense
- Research and prioritize target accounts by market, season and fit with what we do well
- Run discovery meetings, understand what the client actually needs, and write up the opportunity clearly
- Log every meeting and every opportunity in our CRM, and review the pipeline weekly
- Work with our sales leadership to decide which opportunities go to proposal and what we're confident we can deliver
- Partner with operations on staffing and feasibility before any commitment goes to a client
- Represent XA at industry events, venue and municipal forums, and trade shows where Western Canada's event buyers gather
- Report on pipeline health, win rate and the market signals you're picking up in the field
What you bring
- 5+ years in business development, growth or account acquisition, ideally in security, events, staffing, facilities or another field-services business
- A track record of getting first meetings with senior decision-makers and turning them into real work
- Comfort travelling across Western Canada, often on short notice during event season
- An understanding of how events and large sites are run, or the ability to learn it quickly from people who do it every day
- Discipline with a CRM and a spreadsheet. If it isn't in the system, it didn't happen.
- Familiarity with Alberta security licensing and the buying process for contracted security services is an asset
- Judgment about what to promise and what to say no to
Compensation and benefits
- Salary: $80,000 per year
- Group benefits plan
- Real input into the tools you use every day. When you suggest an improvement, it usually ships.
- Front-row involvement in the biggest live events in Western Canada
