Xanadu’s mission is to build quantum computers that are useful and available to people everywhere.

At Xanadu, we are learners, innovators, researchers, collaborators, and problem solvers. We are creating something that has never been built before. Few people in their life will be able to be a part of something like this, where if we are successful, the technologies we develop will solve some of the world’s most challenging problems, and literally change the world. And that is something to be excited about!

Your role and responsibilities:
As part of the Lab Operations Team, you will be primarily involved in supporting various projects and sub-teams by expertly completing routine maintenance on various machines. Key responsibilities include supporting R&D operations by maintaining equipment such as air drying and vacuum systems, HVAC systems, and 3D printers. The role involves serving on a rapid response team for lab and facility issues, as well as establishing and documenting standard operating and maintenance procedures. Specific technical duties focus on setting up, maintaining, and managing pneumatic and compressed air infrastructure. This includes assembling receiver tanks with safety components, installing rigid pneumatic lines with connecting hardware, servicing multi-stage air drying systems and filters, sizing mechanical hardware and fittings for flow and pressure needs, and troubleshooting, rebuilding, and integrating lab vacuum pumps.

In addition to the above duties, you will also contribute to:
  • Cleaning and organizing the lab
  • Performing upgrades on the machines/systems
  • Helping to build and set up equipment (racks, tables, machines, etc.)
  • Assisting teams with tasks (such as polishing, gold plating, soldering, etc.).

Note that the nature of this job requires you to be fully on-site. Before applying, please make sure that you can commit to this.

Basic qualifications and experience:
  • College level, apprenticeship or equivalent documented industrial maintenance experience
  • Proven background in setup, maintenance, and expansion of air compressors and pneumatic distribution networks
  • Proven expertise and strong safety awareness when operating high-pressure compressed air systems and vacuum lines
  • Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting technical diagrams and choosing mechanical hardware aligned with pressure specifications, flow metrics, and thread standards
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with a positive attitude towards work
  • Able to work independently
  • Highly motivated and eager to learn
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong writing skills for creating high-quality documentation
  • Experience in a rapid growing environment where priorities can change quickly

Preferred qualifications and experience:
  • Experience with:
    • Hand and power tools
    • CNC machining
    • Plumbing knowledge
    • Hands-on experience in a lab environment
