Role Description
The Senior Calypso Business Analyst will work on a contract basis in a hybrid capacity, primarily located in Montreal, QC, with some work-from-home flexibility. This role analyzes and documents business requirements for Calypso-based trading, risk, and treasury systems, then translates them into functional specifications for technology teams. Day-to-day tasks include conducting detailed process reviews with stakeholders, performing gap analyses between current and target system capabilities, and supporting solution design and Calypso configuration. The analyst will collaborate closely with front office, risk, operations, and IT teams; facilitate workshops; prepare user stories and test cases; and support system and user acceptance testing. The role also involves providing production support analysis, contributing to continuous process improvement initiatives, and ensuring that delivered solutions align with regulatory, risk, and operational standards.
Core Purpose & Scope
- Leading functional transformations and large-scale projects (e.g., T+1) to evolve the Calypso platform.
- Focus Areas: Bridging the gap between Business lines (Prime Brokerage, Fixed Income, Equities) and IT/Development teams to implement new markets, brokers, and reporting tools.
- Operational Context: Acting as a strategic link in a global ecosystem, coordinating between European business units and offshore development/support hubs (Mumbai).

- Senior Business Analyst (MOA/Project Focus):
- Focus: Project Management (10%), Functional Evolution (40%) and testing (20%).
- Core Task: Leading the full project lifecycle: from requirement gathering and specification writing to UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and change management.
- Key Requirement: Deep expertise in CIB business processes and the ability to translate complex business needs into technical requirements.
- Functional Expert (L3 Support & Coordination):
- Focus: Advanced L3 troubleshooting (10%) and Global/Offshore coordination (20%).
- Core Task: Resolving complex functional issues and mentoring/validating the work of offshore teams in India to ensure global standardization.
Technical & Functional Skillsets
- Back Office Mastery: Deep knowledge of Settlements (Bilateral, Clearing, CPs, Brokers), Accounting, and Trade Life Cycle.
- Business Analysis (MOA): Mastery of scoping, functional specifications, non-regression testing, and manual/automated test scenario design.
