Job Description

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will be responsible for the design, development, and transfer to the manufacturing of various products.

The product development team is responsible for the research and development of all XSENSOR technology and products. The team consists of systems, software, and design engineers. This is an opportunity for someone who is technically strong, enjoys working with their hands, is creative and innovative, and has a passion for developing high-quality products and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

You will work alongside product development, product management, and production teams, designing products to meet specifications, or advancing the performance of XSENSOR’s products portfolio. Your tasks would typically include:

· Designing products to meet performance specifications

· Developing product prototypes

· Using computer-aided design (CAD) software to create new designs

· Developing design documentation, such as assembly drawings, bills of materials, and process build documents

· Assessing technical performance specifications and carrying out rigorous testing, recording test results, and writing test reports

· Researching new techniques and technologies

· Writing technical reports and cost estimates

· Training manufacturing staff to build and test products

· Follow implemented design and development processes

Skills

· Strong mechanical design skills

· Experience in modelling and production processes

· Development of mechanical drawings using CAD software such as NX, SolidWorks, Fusion360, AutoCAD, and or DraftSite

· Experience in CNC is a plus

· Design of experiments

· Fundamental electronics knowledge

· Defining and directing the work of suppliers and vendors

· Great attention to detail

· Desire to learn and quick to adapt to new systems

· Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills

· Ability to effectively multitask

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Nice to Haves

· Knowledge of the textile industry, including markets, processes, materials, adhesives, and textile chemistry, would be an asset.

· 3D printing (FDM, SLA)

Education

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, mechatronics engineering, or equivalent education and experience
