With a strong reputation for excellence in long-term care, community programs, and aging-in-place initiatives, Yee Hong is committed to supporting seniors in living with dignity, independence, and the best possible quality of life. At the core of its mission is a focus on compassionate, person-centered care tailored to the unique needs of diverse communities.

Yee Hong is one of the foremost providers of culturally appropriate senior care in the country, delivering high-quality resident experience and care to Chinese and other Asian seniors since 1994. The organization operates 805 long-term care beds and 308 seniors’ apartment units, with an additional 224 long-term care beds opening in a new home by June 2026. In addition, Yee Hong offers four campuses of managed care, a hospice residence, and a wide range of community-based senior and caregiver support services. Through this comprehensive network, the organization serves more than 15,000 individuals annually across the Greater Toronto Area.

At Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care, our values guide everything we do: We Care. We Collaborate. We Commit.

We are committed to providing high-quality, culturally appropriate, resident-centred care that enhances the lives of older adults. Guided by our Harmony Care approach, we foster a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for residents, families, staff, and the community.

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Facility Manager to lead the operations of our Housekeeping, Laundry, and Maintenance departments and ensure the ongoing safety, functionality, and appearance of our long-term care home.

The successful candidate will ensure compliance with applicable legislation, standards, and organizational policies while supporting a resident-centred environment.

This role also plays a key leadership function in facility improvement projects, including both major and minor renovations.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for building systems and equipment.
Conduct regular interior and exterior building inspections.
Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, building standards, fire and life safety requirements, and organizational policies.
Lead departmental staffing activities, including recruitment, scheduling, coaching, performance management, and staff development.
Foster a positive, engaged, and high-performing team culture.
Develop and manage departmental budgets, expenditures, inventory, and resource utilization.
Participate in quality improvement, risk management, resident safety, and workplace health and safety initiatives.
Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures, including those related to fire safety, emergency preparedness, infection prevention and control, and occupational health and safety.
Research, negotiate, and manage contracts for equipment, maintenance services, housekeeping, and laundry supplies.
Maintain accurate inspection records, certifications, and documentation required by regulatory authorities.
Participate in renovation and capital improvement projects, including reviewing construction drawings and coordinating project activities.
Provide emergency response and on-call support for building maintenance, safety, and security matters.
Participate as a member of the home's security response team.
Attend and lead departmental and organizational meetings as required.
Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Hold a college-level "Building Environmental System Operator – Class II" certificate.
Possess general maintenance and hands-on skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Knowledge of Chinese languages is strongly preferred.
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check.

Working Conditions

Combination of office, facility, and on-site operational work.
Standing, walking, lifting, bending, and physical activity as required.
Exposure to varying environmental conditions including heat, humidity, noise, and mechanical equipment.
Participation in an on-call rotation and availability for 24-hour emergency response related to maintenance, safety, and security matters.
Occasional travel between locations and external sites.

Why Join Yee Hong?

Meaningful work that positively impacts the lives of seniors and their families.
