About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Yellowhead Copper Project, the Project Coordinator will join an experienced project team advancing a large open pit mining project in British Columbia through environmental assessment, permitting and into construction. The Project Coordinator is responsible for establishing, monitoring, and analyzing project cost, schedule, and change management systems. You will work directly with multidisciplinary project and corporate team members to ensure accurate progress tracking, reporting, realistic budgeting and forecasting, and robust risk management - providing project leadership with the actionable insights needed for informed decision-making to deliver the project safely, on time, and on budget.

The role will be based in Barriere, with travel to the corporate office as required.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead annual cost management activities through budgeting, tracking, forecasting, and reconciliations. Track the capital and operating costs through pre-execution study phases focusing on trend analysis and internal reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain an integrated project master schedule with an initial focus on the environmental assessment and permitting stages, aligning time-phased cost forecasts and cash flow profiles with engineering deliverable milestones and study gates.
  • Establish and apply progress measurement frameworks to monitor performance against budget and schedule baselines.
  • Facilitate the project change management process by tracking scope trends and maintaining a master Trend and Change Register.
  • Support commercial evaluations for procurement packages, ensuring procurement structures align cleanly with cost management systems.
  • Analyze complex project data to develop clear forecasts, risk evaluations, and actionable recommendations that support executive decision-making.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, and partners to ensure consistency and rigor across all project controls systems.
  • Other activities as requested to support the project requirements.

Education & Experience

  • A degree in Construction Management, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as AACE International or PMI are considered an asset.
  • 5 plus years of experience in project controls and cost management within major capital projects, heavy industrial construction, or pre-execution/feasibility studies.
  • Experience in mining, infrastructure, energy, oil and gas will be highly regarded.
  • Strong expertise in cost forecasting, cost control, budgeting, estimating, and project performance monitoring.
  • Experience with multi-year cost modeling, trade-off evaluation, and progressive estimate accuracy refinement (e.g., AACE Class 5 through Class 2).
  • Experience supporting change management processes and implementing structured project controls methodologies.

Skills & Competencies

  • Advanced proficiency with specialist cost management systems and expert-level Microsoft Office suite capability.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to transform complex data into compelling insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Understanding of project planning, scheduling, contractor performance management, and commercial interfaces.
  • Exceptional ability to synthesize large volumes of cost/schedule data into clear, objective conclusions.
  • Ability to hold others accountable while maintaining effective, collaborative working relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
