Role Description The Junior Recruiter is a full-time, on-site role based in Canada, supporting YMCA Calgary’s talent acquisition needs across its programs and facilities. This role is responsible for assisting with the full recruitment lifecycle, including posting job openings, screening applications, coordinating interviews, and maintaining candidate communication. The Junior Recruiter will help schedule and conduct initial interviews, prepare offer letters under supervision, and support onboarding activities to ensure a smooth transition for new team members. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining recruitment records, updating applicant tracking systems, supporting hiring managers with recruitment-related questions, and participating in job fairs or community outreach events. The role also involves collaborating with HR colleagues to ensure recruitment practices align with YMCA Calgary’s values and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Hybrid - Remote and In-branch

Salary: $44,138/yr - $55,172/yr

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following;

· Diploma or certificate in Human Resources, Business Administration, Office Administration, or a related field; equivalent education or experience may be considered.

· Minimum 1 year experience in recruitment and administration.

· Basic understanding of human resources practices is considered an asset.

· Demonstrates YMCA Calgary’s core values and maintains confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgment.

· Strong communication and administrative skills with good attention to detail, and manage multiple competing priorities.

· Ability to work both independently and in a team by building strong professional relationships.

· Proficiency in MS office tools; experience working with an HRIS system is an asset.

· Ability to travel between YMCA Calgary branches regularly.

The succesfull candidate will be required to provide:

· Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.

· Three professional references.

Duties and Responsibilities includes:

· Create and post job postings to a variety of internal and external platforms.

· Screen and forward suitable applications to hiring supervisors.

· Conduct reference checks and create offer letters for part-time, full-time, and seasonal employees.

· Assist the Recruiter in other recruitment related process, events, and strategies.

· Ensure the provision of a safe environment through the hiring, supervision and training of qualified and competent staff and volunteers in the recruitment team.

· Assist with Onboarding Trainings of new hiring managers.

· Assist Recruiter, proactively plan and attend recruitment fairs and other recruitment events.

· Support the L&D Specialist with LMS related inquiries.

· Collect, maintain, and ensure accuracy of staff certifications in the HR database.

· Deliver monthly compliance status report to the association & resolve any discrepancies that arise.

· Build relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure compliance information is updated regularly and follow up where there are gaps in reporting.

· Assist with other Human Resource projects as assigned and provide administrative support to the HR department.
