Job Title: Software Engineer – Platform Security & Modernization
Location: Montreal, QC, Canada
Work Model: Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Software Engineer with strong Java development experience to support the security, modernization, and reliability of enterprise applications and file transfer platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Linux/Unix, and DevOps practices, along with knowledge of application security, vulnerability remediation, and platform resiliency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and modernize enterprise applications, APIs, and platform services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Identify and remediate application vulnerabilities, upgrade dependencies, and reduce technical debt.
- Improve platform reliability, high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment processes.
- Work with Linux/Unix, shell scripting, databases, and enterprise networking protocols.
- Support containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, SRE, and development teams.
Required Skills:
- Strong Java development experience (Java 17+ preferred).
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and REST API development.
- Working knowledge of Python and/or JavaScript.
- Understanding of application security, vulnerability management, and secure coding.
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix, shell scripting, and networking protocols (HTTPS, SSH/SFTP, SMTP, TLS, TCP/IP).
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Docker/Kubernetes.
