Original job description

Yonge Street Mission (YSM) is a vibrant, non-profit Christian organization leading a collective movement to end chronic poverty in Toronto.

Since 1896, we’ve worked to transform the lives of people living with poverty, going beyond immediate needs by offering wrap-around support via holistic programs and services, and a pathway which enables vulnerable youth, families in need, adults experiencing poverty and vulnerable communities to move from surviving to thriving.

To make this happen, we are passionate about investing in the people we work with, and look for a diverse range of staff who are key for us to advance our mission: Christians who have a heart for neighbours in need, a desire to transform the lives of our community members, and who believe in treating everyone with dignity and respect.

If you are inspired by our vision and feel a true call to contribute to YSM’s work, we’d love to hear from you.

What We Offer:

As a staff member at YSM, some of the things you can look forward to include a values-based and highly collaborative and engaging work environment with a high value on staff’s mental health and well-being; meaningful, innovative and impactful work, with opportunities to make a difference in the lives of children, families, and the community, as well as flexible hybrid work arrangements. Our competitive Total Rewards compensation package also includes Group RRSP matching, annual leave and paid personal days, comprehensive health and dental care coverage, an Employee and Family Assistance Program that includes counselling services by Christian professionals, and numerous other perks.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Manager, Mental Health Services to provide leadership, program operations oversight, and strategic direction to YSM’s mental health and counselling programs. This role will oversee program development and operations, staff supervision, and external partnerships to ensure high-quality, accessible, and impactful mental health services aligned with YSM’s mission and model of care.

This is a full-time position of 37.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage YSM’s mental health programs, including counselling services, psychoeducational groups, and low-barrier access points such as walk-in and drop-in clinics.
  • Design and implement population-specific mental health strategies that respond to the needs of adults, families, and youth.
  • Provide oversight to staff, interns, and volunteer clinicians, ensuring compliance with professional standards (CRPO, OCSWSSW) and best practices.
  • Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee program evaluation, data tracking, and reporting using systems such as Salesforce and TIMES TR to measure outcomes and impact.
  • Manage departmental planning, budgeting, and alignment with organizational priorities and funder requirements.
  • Support staff in managing complex and high-risk cases, including crisis situations and safety planning.
  • Build and strengthen external partnerships within the mental health sector (e.g., hospital partners, community networks, and collaborative tables).
  • Represent YSM in external forums and contribute to broader systems-level collaboration and advocacy.
  • Contribute to organizational life through meetings, spiritual practices, and cross-departmental collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counselling, or a related field.
  • Registration in good standing with one of the following: College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) or Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience, including leadership or management of clinical teams.
  • Strong clinical supervision experience and knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic practices.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including individuals experiencing poverty, trauma, and complex mental health needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs, manage staff performance, and oversee service delivery.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in high-pressure environments.
  • Experience with program evaluation, reporting, and data systems (ie. Salesforce) is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and sectors.
  • Commitment to YSM’s mission, Christian values, and faith-based identity (including signing YSM’s Articles of Faith & Doctrine).

Compensation: YSM offers market competitive rates and will pay a starting salary of $85,000.00 for this role, combined with a comprehensive suite of benefits and perks.

Deadline for Application: Until filled.
