Employment Opportunity: Senior Financial Analyst
We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. This role is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who wants to use their expertise to support meaningful work in the community. Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst provides financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, funder reporting, and decision support that helps ensure our programs remain financially sustainable and responsive to community needs. The role also plays a key part in stewarding donor and government funding, supporting audit readiness, and strengthening financial accountability across the organization.

About the role
Status: Regular Full Time (35 hours per week)
Location: 535 Hornby Street, Vancouver, BC
The role works closely with Finance leadership and operational managers to ensure financial sustainability, enhance reporting and accountability, support funding compliance, and identify opportunities for process improvements. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to translate complex financial information into meaningful insights for non-financial stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing:
· Prepare financial reports and analysis for assigned programs, funds, and initiatives.
· Monitor budgets, variances, trends, and financial risks.
· Reconcile restricted, designated, and deferred funding across systems and the general ledger.
· Review donor restrictions, funder agreements, budgets, and eligible expenses.
· Prepare donor and funder reports, schedules, and variance explanations.
· Work with Program Managers and Fund Development to confirm funding requirements and documentation.
· Develop budgets, forecasts, models, and projections for programs, grants, and initiatives.
· Complete account analysis and reconciliations to support accurate, audit-ready reporting.
· Identify and resolve coding, allocation, reconciliation, and reporting issues.
· Support month-end, year-end, audit, and funder review processes.
· Maintain reporting tools, procedures, and documentation to strengthen controls and consistency.
· Provide financial guidance on reporting, coding, budget monitoring, donor restrictions, and funder compliance.
· Collaborate across teams, auditors, funders, and system contacts to resolve issues and support reliable reporting.
· Support financial analysis, budgeting, reconciliations, process improvements, special projects, and other Finance duties as required.
What you’ll need:
· CPA designation
· 5–7 years of progressive experience in accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
· Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, deferred revenue, fund accounting, donor restrictions, and revenue recognition.
· Experience with month-end/year-end processes, audits, compliance reporting, and funder reporting.
· Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret results, investigate variances, assess risks, and recommend solutions.
· Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems, reporting tools, and large datasets.
· Experience with Sage Intacct, Raiser’s Edge, donor databases, or non-profit/fund accounting is an asset.
· Strong attention to detail, organization, accuracy, and follow-through.
· Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
· Sound judgment, initiative, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
· Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
· Professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion when handling sensitive information.
· A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.
