Job Overview:
ZenaTech is seeking a detail-oriented and adaptable Bookkeeper - M&A Integration Team to support the financial integration of newly acquired businesses across North America.
This role is ideal for a bookkeeping professional who enjoys travel, process improvement, and working directly with acquired companies. The primary objective of this position is to successfully consolidate the accounting records and bookkeeping operations of newly acquired businesses into ZenaTech's corporate QuickBooks environment.
Working closely with the Integration Manager, you will travel to acquired companies, assess existing bookkeeping practices, migrate and standardize financial records, implement corporate bookkeeping procedures, and train local accounting and bookkeeping staff on ongoing maintenance and reporting requirements. Once an integration has been successfully completed, you will transition to the next acquisition while continuing to provide periodic support and oversight to previously integrated subsidiaries.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in changing environments, building relationships with local teams, and ensuring consistency in bookkeeping and record-keeping practices across multiple business entities.
Key Responsibilities
Acquisition Integration
- Travel to newly acquired companies to support accounting and bookkeeping integration initiatives.
- Review and assess existing bookkeeping processes, record-keeping practices, and accounting workflows.
- Consolidate financial records and historical accounting data into the parent company's QuickBooks environment.
- Standardize chart of accounts, bookkeeping procedures, and financial reporting structures across acquired entities.
- Validate the accuracy and completeness of migrated accounting records.
Bookkeeping & Financial Administration
- Perform account reconciliations and assist with general ledger maintenance during integration activities.
- Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, and expense processes to ensure alignment with corporate standards.
- Assist with month-end close procedures and financial reporting requirements during transition periods.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Training & Process Implementation
- Train acquired companies' bookkeeping and accounting personnel on QuickBooks processes and corporate record-keeping standards.
- Develop and maintain integration documentation, process guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide post-integration support to ensure local teams are following established procedures.
- Answer questions and troubleshoot bookkeeping issues related to integrated entities.
Ongoing Subsidiary Support
- Maintain regular communication with previously integrated subsidiaries.
- Monitor compliance with established bookkeeping procedures and reporting timelines.
- Identify and resolve bookkeeping, reporting, or filing issues before they impact financial reporting.
- Escalate significant accounting or compliance concerns to the Integration Manager.
- Recommend process improvements to improve accuracy, efficiency, and consistency across subsidiaries.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Finance, Accounting, and Operations teams to support acquisition integration projects.
- Support special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
- Travel regularly to acquisition sites throughout Canada and internationally when required.
Qualifications
Required
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks.
- Experience with bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general bookkeeping practices.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Strong communication and training abilities.
- Ability to travel frequently and without restriction.
- Valid passport and ability to travel to acquisition locations as required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
- Experience supporting multiple business entities or locations.
- Experience with accounting system migrations or software implementations.
- Experience in mergers and acquisitions, business integrations, or corporate expansion environments.
CPA designation or active pursuit of a CPA designation is considered an asset but is not required
